The Tale Of Savva Grudtsyn
''The Tale of Savva Grudtsyn'' (Russian: ''Повесть о Савве Грудцыне'', ''Povest' o Savve Grudtsyne'') is a seventeenth-century Russian Folklore, tale, thought to have been written between 1666-68. It is frequently regarded as an important literary milestone in Russian literature, as it arguably marks the beginning of novelistic writing in Russia and can be seen as a bridge between medieval and Modern history, modern Russian literature. Plot summary The plot centers on the eponymous hero, Savva Grudtsyn. Savva is the son of Foma Grudstyn-Usov, a merchant from the city of Veliky Ustyug in the northern Vologda region of Russia. As a young man, Savva goes to live in the town of Orel, where he is offered great hospitality by a friend of his father's, Bazhen Vtory. Bazhen is an old, respected, well-to-do merchant who is married to his third wife, a much younger woman who remained unnamed in the story. Serge Aleksandrovich Zenkovsky (russian: Сергей Александрович Зеньковский; 16 June 1907, Kiev, Russian Empire – 31 March 1990, Florida)Ralph T. Fisher: ''Obituary. Serge A. He specialized in Economic, Eastern European and Central Asian history. Life Europe Zenkovsky was born on 16 June 1907 (Gregorian calendar) in Kiev. His father Aleksandr (1878–1966) was a professor of economics, his mother Elena (1884–1954) the daughter of a physician and professor of surgery; he also had a sister, Nadezhda. After the Russian Revolution, the family fled first to Constantinople, then Berlin and Prague, where Zenkovsky graduated in economic history.
