The Swarbriggs Plus Two
Thomas "Tommy" Swarbrigg and John James "Jimmy" Swarbrigg are Irish music promoters and former pop musicians. As The Swarbriggs, they represented Ireland at the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest with "That's What Friends Are For". As The Swarbriggs Plus Two, with Nicola Kerr and Alma Carroll, they competed again in with " It's Nice To Be In Love Again". The brothers wrote both songs. They also scored numerous other top 20 chart hit singles in Ireland during the 1970s, including "Joanne" (a No. 1 hit in 1976), "Looking Through The Eyes Of A Beautiful Girl", "If Ma Could See Me Now", "Funny" and many more. They had over 20 top 20 Chart Entries through the 1970s, which were all self composed. Ireland was represented by Colm C. T. Wilkinson, with the song "Born to Sing", at the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 22 April in Paris. "Born to Sing" was chosen as the Irish entry at the national final on 5 March. Before Eurovision National final The final was held at the studios of broadcaster RTÉ in Dublin, hosted by Mike Murphy. Eight songs took part, with the winner chosen by voting from ten regional juries. Other participants included future Irish representatives Sheeba (1981), and Linda Martin (1984 & 1992) who performed as a member of the group Chips. At Eurovision On the night of the final Wilkinson performed first in the running order, preceding Norway. Colm Wilkinson
Colm Wilkinson (born 5 June 1944), also known as C. T. Wilkinson, is an Irish tenor and actor who is best known for originating the lead role of Jean Valjean in ''Les Misérables'' (in the West End and Broadway) and for taking the title role in ''The Phantom of the Opera'' at the Sydmonton Festival and the original Canadian production. Red Hurley
Brian "Red" Hurley (born 11 November 1949) is an Irish singer. Hurley's career includes singing lead for bands such as The Colours, The Wheels, and The Nevada (né The Nevada Showband). He had a series of number one records in the 1970s while performing with The Nevada. Hurley also represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1976 with the song " When". Personal life Hurley was born in 1949 and grew up in Milltown, Dublin, with four brothers (Fran, Liam, Joe, and Des) as well as two sisters (Flo and Olive). Hurley's first marriage was to Dublin model Patricia Ward and ended in the mid-1980s; they had one daughter together, Kimberley. He met his second wife, Norma, in 1990 when she was a dancer in one of his shows. Ireland was represented by Tina Reynolds, with the song "Cross Your Heart", at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 6 April in Brighton, England. "Cross Your Heart" was chosen as the Irish entry at the national final on 9 February. For the first time since joining Eurovision in 1965, broadcaster RTÉ pre-selected Reynolds as their performer rather than holding a multi-artist selection.
