''The Sun Sleeps, as If It Never Was'' is the second EP by American metalcore band Invent Animate. It was released on September 23, 2021, through UNFD. The EP was self-produced by the band and Ryan Len Johnson. It is the band's first release with the label. A music video was made for the entire three-track EP. Critical reception The EP received generally positive reviews from critics. ''Wall of Sound'' gave the album a score 9/10 and saying: "Invent Animate have given us an EP that is quite dark in nature yet beautifully honest. They have presented us with similar sounds to their previous album as well newly refined features that are shaping the newest era of the band." Invent Animate (previously stylized as Invent, Animate) is an American progressive metalcore band from Port Neches, Texas. The band formed in late 2011 and self-released their debut EP titled ''Waves'' on March 13, 2012. After a number of regional tours and increasing popularity in the online djent community, the band was signed up by Tragic Hero Records in February 2014. The band announced they would release their debut full-length record titled '' Everchanger'' on August 26, 2014. Their sophomore album ''Stillworld'' was released on July 8, 2016. ''Greyview'' is the third studio album by American metalcore band Invent Animate. The album was released on March 13, 2020, through Tragic Hero Records and was produced by Randy LeBoeuf. It is the band's last release to be published on this label before the band signed to UNFD in 2021. Critical reception ''KillYourStereo'' gave the album 4 out of 5 and said: "''Greyview'' is a wonderful, sometimes remarkable comeback for Invent Animate, often featuring some of the American band's best work. Track after track, this new album punishes the listener with the crushing, heavyweight of sorrow and depression, felt in both the gut-wrenching lyrical wordplay and the moody prog-metalcore instrumentals. It was self-produced by the band and Landon Tewers of The Plot in You. Critical reception The album received generally positive reviews from music critics. ''Distorted Sound'' scored the album 8 out of 10 and said: "It would be cheap of us to compare this album to the notions of Heaven and Hell. Slightly sacrilegious also. What Invent Animate deliver is an in depth examination of two of the most complex life lessons humanity can accost; grief and self-acceptance. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk.
