''The Sun Season'' is the third studio project from jazz singer/songwriter Dara Tucker. It was released on July 8, 2014. It features ten songs written by Dara Tucker, and two standards: " Over the Rainbow" and " The Nearness of You". Album history The album's ten original songs were written over a period of ten years, starting with Tucker's time in Interlaken, Switzerland. The album contains a "sun" theme. Tucker states that she finds inspiration from the sun, and often felt compelled to write about it. "Beautiful Sun" was written by Tucker in 2003 to celebrate the beauty of nature and its ability to invigorate and give life. Several of the album's songs were composed over a period of several years. Many of the songs' themes center around finding beauty and joy in communing with nature. Dara Tucker (Dara Starr Tucker) is an American singer, songwriter, social commentator and satirist. Tucker has released four studio albums: ''All Right Now'' (2009), '' Soul Said Yes'' (2011) '' The Sun Season'' (2014), and ''Oklahoma Rain'' (2017), as well as a limited-release, live album, ''Dara Tucker Live'' in 2013. She was named Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 and 2017 Nashville Industry Music Awards. Peter Andrew Bernstein (born September 3, 1967) is an American jazz guitarist. Biography Born in New York City on September 3, 1967, Bernstein began playing piano when he was eight but switched to guitar when he was thirteen, learning the instrument primarily by ear. He studied jazz at Rutgers University with Ted Dunbar, and Kenny Barron. While a student at the New School in New York City, he met guitarist Jim Hall, who offered him a job performing at the JVC Jazz Festival in 1990. He then appeared on albums with Jesse Davis, Lou Donaldson, Larry Goldings, Michael Hashim, Geoff Keezer, and Melvin Rhyne. He released his first album as a leader with pianist Brad Mehldau. He has also worked with Jimmy Cobb, Tom Harrell, Diana Krall, Lee Konitz, Eric Alexander, Joshua Redman, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Walt Weiskopf.
