The Stratford Adventure
''The Stratford Adventure'' is a 1954 National Film Board of Canada documentary film about the founding of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, directed by Morten Parker. It tells the story of what was to become North America's premiere Shakespearean festival, on the banks of the Avon River in the small Ontario town of Stratford. It was named Film of the Year at the Canadian Film Awards and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 27th Academy Awards. Morten Parker
Morten Parker (July 29, 1919 – May 26, 2014) was a Canadian director, producer and writer. Biography Parker was born and raised in a Jewish family in Winnipeg, Manitoba, attended the University of Winnipeg and began his career as a journalist. In 1942, his girlfriend, filmmaker Gudrun Bjerring, was hired by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). The two moved to Ottawa and, in 1947, Parker was also hired by the NFB. They married in 1944 (after which Bjerring became known as the filmmaker Gudrun Parker). They made several films together, notably ''The Stratford Adventure'' (1954), which was nominated for an Oscar. Parker directed, produced and/or wrote 35 films for the NFB. His interest lay in social and labour justice, and he was responsible for films in the NFB's ''Labour in Canada'' series (1953–54) and 1958's ''The Nature of Work'' series. Studio System by Gracenote, formerly known as Baseline StudioSystems, is an American e-commerce company. It was founded in 1982 and licenses its commercial entertainment database, known as Studio System. It is owned by Gracenote, a subsidiary of Nielsen Holdings. History James Monaco founded Baseline in 1982. Their primary product, an entertainment database, was launched in 1985. Monaco left Baseline in 1992, and Paul Kagan Associates purchased it the following year. Big Entertainment purchased the database in 1999 and subsequently renamed themselves to Hollywood.com. Irene Worth, CBE (June 23, 1916March 10, 2002) was an American stage and screen actress who became one of the leading stars of the British and American theatre. She pronounced her given name with three syllables: "I-REE-nee". Worth made her Broadway debut in 1943, joined the Old Vic company in 1951 and the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1962.
