''The Strangler of Blackmoor Castle'' (german: Der Würger von Schloß Blackmoor) is a 1963 West German thriller film directed by Harald Reinl and starring Karin Dor, Harry Riebauer and Rudolf Fernau.Bergfelder p. 257 It was based on a novel by Bryan Edgar Wallace and was part of a trend of English-set thrillers inspired by Rialto Film's series of adaptations of his father Edgar Wallace's work. It was shot at the Spandau Studios in Berlin. Harald Reinl
Harald Reinl (8 July 1908 in Bad Ischl, Austria – 9 October 1986 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) was an Austrian film director. He is known for the films he made based on Edgar Wallace and Karl May books (see Karl May movies and Edgar Wallace movies) and also made mountain films, Heimatfilms, German war films and entries in such popular German film series as ''Dr. Mabuse'', ''Jerry Cotton'' and ''Kommissar X''. Reinl began his career as an extra in the mountain films of Arnold Fanck. He worked as screenwriter on the film '' Tiefland'' directed by and starring Leni Riefenstahl. Reinl's first movie as director was the mountain film ''Mountain Crystal'' (1949). He was Oscar nominated for his documentary feature '' Chariots of the Gods'' (1970). By the 1970s, he had semi-retired to the Canary Islands. Edgar Wallace
Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1 April 1875 – 10 February 1932) was a British writer. Born into poverty as an illegitimate London child, Wallace left school at the age of 12. He joined the army at age 21 and was a war correspondent during the Second Boer War for Reuters and the '' Daily Mail''. Struggling with debt, he left South Africa, returned to London and began writing thrillers to raise income, publishing books including '' The Four Just Men'' (1905). Drawing on his time as a reporter in the Congo, covering the Belgian atrocities, Wallace serialised short stories in magazines such as ''The Windsor Magazine'' and later published collections such as ''Sanders of the River'' (1911). He signed with Hodder and Stoughton in 1921 and became an internationally recognised author. Walter Giller
Walter Giller (23 August 1927 – 15 December 2011) was a German actor. He was very successful in the 1950s and 1960s, when he was often seen as a comedic leading man. One of his most successful and more serious roles was in ''Roses for the Prosecutor''. Giller was born in Recklinghausen. In 1956, he married actress Nadja Tiller; they had two children and appeared together in a number of films. The couple resided in Lugano, Switzerland for many years. In 2009, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He underwent a major (but unsuccessful) operation. He died in Hamburg in 2011, aged 84. Hans Albert Nielsen (30 November 1911 – 11 October 1965) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1937 and 1965. Biography Hans Albert Nielsen was born in Hamburg, Germany. He first got an education in business, but afterward, began taking private acting lessons from Albrecht Schoenhals and Erich Ziegel.
