''The Story of Christine von Herre'' (german: Der Roman der Christine von Herre) is a 1921 German silent drama film directed by Ludwig Berger and starring Agnes Straub, Werner Krauss, and Paul Hartmann. It was based on a novella by Heinrich Zschokke. It was shot at the Babelsberg Studios of Decla-Bioscop in Berlin and on location at Glatz in Silesia. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Rudolf Bamberger and Franz Seemann. Ludwig Berger (director)
Ludwig Berger (born Ludwig Bamberger; 6 January 1892 – 18 May 1969) was a German-Jewish film director, screenwriter and theatre director. He directed more than 30 films between 1920 and 1969. Berger began working in the German film industry during the Weimar Republic. At Decla-Bioscop and later UFA he established a reputation as a leading director of silent films. He emigrated to Hollywood, but was unable to establish himself and returned to Europe. He subsequently worked both in France and Germany. He was a member of the jury at the 6th Berlin International Film Festival. Berger also translated a few plays of Shakespeare, including ''Cymbeline'', ''Hamlet'', and ''Timon of Athens''. His elder brother was the set designer Rudolf Bamberger who was killed in 1945. Adele Sandrock (; born Adele Feldern-Förster; 19 August 1863 – 30 August 1937) was a German-Dutch actress. After a successful theatrical career, she became one of the first German movie stars. Early life Sandrock was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the daughter of the German merchant Eduard Sandrock (1834–1897) and his Dutch wife, Johanna Simonetta ten Hagen (1833–1917). Max Adalbert (born Johannes Adolph Krampf; 19 February 1874 – 7 September 1933) was a German stage and film actor. Biography Adalbert was born in Danzig (Gdansk), Imperial Germany as ''Maximilian Adalbert Krampf'' to a Prussian Officer. He used his first names as his stage name from the start of his career and debuted at the age of 19 at the theater of Lübeck and in 1894 at the municipal theater of Barmen. Adalbert also appeared in St.Gallen, Nuremberg and Vienna. He moved to Berlin in 1899 to work at the ''Residenztheater''. Coming in contact with Curt Bois, Adalbert turned into a comedian and co-founded the popular ''Kabarett der Komiker'' in December 1924. Ilka Grüning (born Ilka Henriette Grunzweig; 4 September 1876 – 11 November 1964) was an Austrian-Hungarian actress.
