The Storm Breaker
''The Storm Breaker'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by Edward Sloman and written by Edward T. Lowe Jr. It is based on the 1922 novel ''Titans'' by Charles Guernon. The film stars House Peters Sr., Ruth Clifford, Nina Romano, Ray Hallor, Jere Austin, and Lionel Belmore. The film was released on October 25, 1925, by Universal Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine review, John Strong, a dominatingly strong willed fisherman who is loved by a young woman who lives in his mother’s home meets and marries the daughter of a bookseller, but then loses her love to his brother Neil. One night a storm wrecks his brother’s boat. He refuses to go to the rescue until he is told that he is the only man on the coast who can save the one who is in peril. Following the successful rescue of his brother, he realizes he has no right to the love of the woman he has wed. Edward Sloman
Edward Sloman (19 July 1886, London - 29 September 1972, Woodland Hills, California) was an English silent film director, actor, screenwriter and radio broadcaster. He directed over 100 films and starred in over 30 films as an actor between 1913 and 1938. Post-cinema work After directing over 100 films and starring in over 30, Sloman made his last film in 1938 and in 1939 left the film industry to enter radio broadcasting as a writer, producer and director. Unfortunately the majority of Sloman's works have been lost. However, his 1927 Universal silent ''Alias the Deacon'' starring Jean Hersholt is held by the Library of Congress. He died in Woodland Hills, California in 1972 aged 86. Gertrude Claire
Gertrude Claire (July 16, 1852 – April 28, 1928) was an actress of the American stage and Hollywood silent motion pictures. Biography Claire was born in Chicago, Illinois, and began appearing onstage at the age of 16. She played minor roles in New York City. In the coming years she began to play leads. Among the actors of note she played with John Drew Jr., Edwin Booth, and Richard Mansfield. She began work in films while the industry was still based in New York. Then she moved to Hollywood, where she was part of the first motion picture playing company organized there. Claire had roles in 123 films beginning in 1910 and continuing until 1928. Her last appearance in movies was in the Clara Bow feature film ''Red Hair'' (1928). On April 28, 1928, Claire died at her home in Hollywood, aged 76. Eye Filmmuseum is a film archive, museum, and cinema in Amsterdam that preserves and presents both Dutch and foreign films screened in the Netherlands. Location and history Eye Filmmuseum is located in the Overhoeks neighborhood of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Mark Fenton (November 11, 1866 – July 29, 1925) was an American stage performer and motion-picture character actor who appeared in at least 80 films between 1914 and 1925. Fenton had considerable experience performing on stage prior to acting in silent films. His early stage work included parts in Charles Frohman's productions.
