The Steve Mcqueens
The Steve McQueens is a Singapore-based band formed in 2013. Line up The band consists of Eugenia Yip (vocals), Joshua Wan (keyboards), Jase Sng (bass) and Anson Koh (drums). They have been invited to international jazz festivals and performed at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games closing ceremony. Origins of band name The group relates their musical style of "anti-establishments escapism" to Steve McQueen's anti-hero persona. History The Steve McQueens were formed in Singapore in 2013, with Yip as singer, Wan on keyboard, and Ben on bass, working at the Oriental Hotel as a jazz trio. Marcus Szeto then joined playing the guitar and Bobby Singh as percussionist. They did their first gig on 23 April 2013 at the Sultan Jazz Club. Jase (bassist) replaced Ben and Aaron (drummer) replaced Bobby, while Fabian Lim (saxophonist) joined the group. The group played regular gigs at the BluJaz Café, Marina Bay Sands, and other venues. P-Vine Records is an independent record label based in Tokyo, Japan. History It was started in 1976 by Blues Interactions, a firm founded in 1975 by Yasufumi Higurashi and Akira Kochi, as a record label focused on black music. The label name comes from the "Peavine Branch" of the Mississippi Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad sung in blues songs by Charley Patton and Big Joe Williams. In the early years, the label focused on blues and R&B but gradually expanded to wider genres such as jazz, Latin, funk, j-pop, house music, and garage punk. The label has released some newly recorded materials, including the album ''Original Chicago Blues'' with Kansas City Red, Eddie Taylor, and Big John Wrencher. 2015 Southeast Asian Games
The 2015 Southeast Asian Games ( ms, Sukan Asia Tenggara 2015; ; ta, 2015 தென்கிழக்கு ஆசிய விளையாட்டுப் போட்டிகள்), officially known as the 28th Southeast Asian Games, or the 28th SEA Games, and commonly known as Singapore 2015, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held by the city-state of Singapore from 5 to 16 June 2015, It was the fourth time the country hosted the games. Singapore previously also hosted the games in 1973, 1983 and 1993 edition. Singapore was awarded rights to host the Southeast Asian Games in 2011. A jazz trio is a group of three jazz musicians, often a piano trio comprising a pianist, a double bass player and a drummer. Jazz trios are commonly named after their leader, such as the Bill Evans Trio. Jazz Funk
Jazz-funk is a subgenre of jazz music characterized by a strong back beat (groove), electrified sounds, and an early prevalence of analog synthesizers. Jean-Paul Maunick (born 19 February 1957, Mauritius), better known by his stage name Bluey is a British guitarist, bandleader, composer and record producer. He has led the British acid jazz band Incognito since its formation in 1979. With Incognito, he has released fifteen studio albums as well as a number of live albums, remix albums and compilation albums. Prior to forming Incognito, Bluey was an original member of the group Light of the World.
