The Standard are an American indie rock band from Portland, Oregon. History The Standard formed in Portland in 1999 out of members who had all previously played in Portland indie groups. The Standardat AllMusic The group signed with Touch and Go Records in 2002 for one release, and had two releases on Yep Roc in 2004–05. ''The Weekly Standard'' was an American neoconservative political magazine of news, analysis and commentary, published 48 times per year. Originally edited by founders Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes, the ''Standard'' had been described as a "redoubt of neoconservatism" and as "the neocon bible." Its founding publisher, News Corporation, debuted the title on September 18, 1995. In 2009, News Corporation sold the magazine to a subsidiary of the Anschutz Corporation. On December 14, 2018, its owners announced that the magazine was ceasing publication, with the last issue published on December 17. Sources attribute its demise to an increasing divergence between Kristol and other editors' shift towards anti-Trump positions, and the magazine's audience's shift towards Trumpism. ''Der Standard'' is an Austrian daily newspaper published in Vienna. History and profile ''Der Standard'' was founded by Oscar Bronner as a financial newspaper and published its first edition on 19 October 1988. German media company Axel Springer acquired a stake in the paper in 1988 and sold it in 1995. Bronner remains the paper's publisher, Martin Kotynek is editor-in-chief. Standard Hotels is a group of seven boutique hotels in New York City (Meatpacking District and East Village), Miami Beach, London, Maldives, Ibiza, and Hua Hin, Thailand. The hotels are operated by Standard International Management. The two original properties in Hollywood and Los Angeles closed in 2021 and 2022 respectively. The Standard, High Line, formerly The Standard, is an 18-story luxury boutique hotel located at 848 Washington Street between West 13th and Little West 12th Streets in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan, New York City. The Standard, East Village, formerly the Cooper Square Hotel, is a 21-story high-rise luxury hotel located at 25 Cooper Square in lower Manhattan, New York City. The Standard, Copenhagen
The Standard is a restaurant complex located on the Havnegade quay in central Copenhagen, Denmark. History The building was constructed in 1937 to a design by Kristoffer Varming and was then known as Gammelholms Toldkammer. The southern part of the building was used as a custom house for goods to and from Sweden. The northern part of the building contained the waiting room, kiosk and ticket office of the Øresund Ferries. The building was later used by Vikingebådene, Centrumlinien and DSØ. The latter was a partnership between DSB and SJ. The last ferry departed on 30 April 2002 and the company later moved its administration to Amerikakaj. The building was acquired by Terence Conran and converted into a restaurant complex in 2005. It contained the Japanese restaurant Ebisu, Italian restaurant Bachio and Custom House Bar & Grill.
