The Sporting Age
''The Sporting Age'' is a lost film, lost 1928 American silent film, silent Drama (genre), drama film, directed by Erle C. Kenton. The film depicts the life of an wife neglected by her husband. Plot Miriam Driscoll doesn't think her husband, James Driscoll really loves her. After a train accident temporarily blinds James, Miriam has an affair with Phillip Kingston, her husband's male secretary. James regains his vision earlier than expected, and he realizes that his wife has cheated on him. He then asks his niece Nancy to steal Phillip from Miriam. The plan works, causing Miriam and James to get back together again. The University Press of Kentucky (UPK) is the scholarly publisher for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and was organized in 1969 as successor to the University of Kentucky Press. The university had sponsored scholarly publication since 1943. In 1949, the press was established as a separate academic agency under the university president, and the following year Bruce F. Denbo, then of Louisiana State University Press, was appointed as the first full-time professional director. Denbo served as director of UPK until his retirement in 1978, building a small but distinguished list of scholarly books with emphasis on American history and literary criticism. Since its reorganization, the Press has represented a consortium that now includes all of Kentucky's state universities, seven of its private colleges, and two historical societies. Belle Bennett
Belle Bennett (born Ara Belle Bennett; April 22, 1891 – November 4, 1932), was a stage and screen actress who started her career as a child as a circus performer. She later performed in theater and films. Early life and career Bennett was born in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Bennett. Her father managed a tent-and-wagon show that toured the midwestern United States. Bennett appeared in circus performances during her childhood. Her father trained her to be a trapeze performer after she spent some years in the Sacred Heart Convent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. By the age of 13 she was appearing in public. Performances with stock companies led Bennett to Broadway, where she appeared in theatrical productions staged by David Belasco. Motion pictures Bennett was working as a film actress by 1913, and was cast in numerous one-reel shorts by small east coast film companies.
