The Spearman Experiment
''The Spearman Experiment'' was an Australian television series, hosted by Magda Szubanski that counts down Australian pop culture's most defining people and topics based on a public poll commented on by various Australian celebrities. The show is named for Charles Spearman, who developed Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, the statistical technique used to survey the public to produce the show's rankings. It premiered on 8 September 2009. The series began development in May 2009, and was officially announced in early August 2009. The show was ultimately cancelled due to low ratings. Format The host and guest celebrities analyse, critique and celebrate Australia's most popular topics interspersed with film clips. The show has been compared to clip show ''20 to 1'' which aired on Channel 9. However, ''The Spearman Experiment'' only counts down the top 15, rather than the top 20. Magda Szubanski
Magdalene Mary Therese Szubanski ( ; born 12 April 1961) is an Australian comedy actress, author, singer and LGBT rights advocate. She performed in ''Fast Forward'', '' Kath & Kim'' as Sharon Strzelecki and in the films ''Babe'' (1995) and '' Babe: Pig in the City'' (1998), ''Happy Feet'' (2006) and ''Happy Feet Two'' (2011). Colin Stuart Lane (born 25 March 1965) is an Australian comedian, actor and TV host, best known for being one-half of comedy duo Lano and Woodley. Lano and Woodley Lane performed with fellow comedian Frank Woodley as part of the duo Lano and Woodley for a period of almost 20 years. The two met through theatresports in the mid-1980s and first performed together at an open mike night at the Prince Patrick Hotel in Collingwood, Victoria, in 1987 along with their friend Scott Casley, calling themselves the Found Objects. Marcia Elaine Hines, AM (born July 20, 1953), is an American-Australian vocalist and TV personality. Hines made her debut, at the age of 16, in the Australian production of the stage musical ''Hair'' and followed with the role of Mary Magdalene in ''Jesus Christ Superstar''. Kim Watkins
Kim Watkins (22 September 1967) is an Australian television and news presenter. Career Watkins began her career in 1979, aged 12 as the co-host of the Nine Network's children's show ''You Asked For It''. David O'Neil (born 8 May 1965) is an Australian stand-up comedian, actor, bass guitarist, writer, television and radio presenter with unusually large thumbs.
