The Society Of Hospital Pharmacists Of Australia
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) is a professional association. Membership mostly comprises hospital pharmacists, but is open to pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students. The organisation aims to support and provide professional development to its members and be an advocate for improved medicines management in policy and practice. The society also produces various publications, including the Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research (JPPR). Formation The Society of Hospital Pharmacists Australia was founded in Victoria, Australia in 1941. The society's inaugural committee members include Fred J. Boyd and Charles B Macgibbon. The organisation began its first two decades as a Victorian organisation. Following the inclusion of other state branches, the SHPA became a national body in 1961. Lance Jeffs
Mr. P. Lance Jeffs was an Australian pharmacist who won The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia Glaxo Medal of Merit in 1965 (jointly with Bill Hayes).The Australian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy. The Society of Hospital Pharmaceutical Chemists of Australia, 1966. Mr Jeffs was a registered pharmaceutical chemist (Ph.C) and fellow of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia. At the time of his award, Mr Jeffs was the federal president of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia and the Chief Pharmacist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia. He later held the position of Chief Pharmacist at Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1968 for three years. Neil Naismith
Neil Wighton Naismith, PhC MPS FSHP AM (13 November 1935 – 26 May 2002), was an Australian pharmacist whose career in hospital pharmacy commenced in 1960. He served as Director of Pharmacy at The Royal Melbourne Hospital from 1967–1997. Naismith introduced innovative changes to hospital pharmacy practice that provided a foundation for services that are now widely established. Neil Naismith implemented new drug distribution systems and presented a paper at the 1969 Federal Conference of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA), entitled ''A New Look at Hospital Packaging'', which provided a stimulus for changes to the methods of purchasing and packaging used by hospital pharmacies. Neil was awarded the Allen and Hanbury Medal of Merit in 1975 in recognition of his work in promoting the concepts of unit dose and unit dose packaging. Barrie is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada, about north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe.
