''The Smell of Quinces'' ( sr, Miris dunja) is a 1982 Yugoslav drama film directed by Mirza Idrizović. It was entered into the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. Zuko Džumhur
Zulfikar "Zuko" Džumhur (24 September 1920 – 29 November 1989) was a prominent Bosnian writer, painter and caricaturist. His bohemian nature, versatility of a polymath and extremely creative personality have made him a unique figure of the Yugoslav culture in the second half of the 20th century. Biography Džumhur was born in Konjic, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (modern-day Bosnia and Herzegovina). When he was only two months old his father, the ''ulama'' Abduselam Džumhur (1885–1933) and mother Vasvija (née Tufo; 1900–1978), moved to the capital of Belgrade, where his father got a job as the main imam of the Royal Yugoslav Army. Zuko Džumhur finished elementary school and the first four grades of high school in Belgrade, then moved to Sarajevo where he finished high school in 1939. This is a list of submissions to the 55th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. Zijah Sokolović (born 22 December 1950) is a Bosnian actor, writer and director. He is the director of ''Theaterland'' in Salzburg, professor at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, artistic director of ''Dežela gledališča'' theatre in Ljubljana and artistic project leader for Dramatic society, ''Dramatično društvo'', but also directs plays in Belgrade, Zagreb, Banja Luka and in his hometown of Sarajevo. Her breakout role was the lead role in the film '' Strange Girl (film), Strange Girl'' that became a cult classic because of the modern portrait of a young woman. Semka Sokolović-Bertok
Semka Sokolović-Bertok (22 December 1935 – 4 March 2008) was a Bosnian and Croatian actress. She also was a competitive chess player in her youth, winning the Croatian Chess Juniors Championship eight times. Personal life Semka was a descendant of an influential Sokolović family. She was born in Sarajevo, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Her mother Abida was a seamstress. Sokolović's older sister Badema (1929–1969) was a mezzo-soprano singer. In March 2008, Sokolović's son Mario Bertok announced her death from internal bleeding following a stroke. She was 72. Career In addition to her work at a theatre in Zagreb, she appeared in numerous film roles. She made her film debut in 1956. Among others, she performed in the 1967 TV film ''Kineski zid'' (an adaptation of the Max Frisch's play ''Die Chinesische Mauer''). Mustafa Nadarević (2 May 1943 – 22 November 2020) was a Bosnian and Croatian actor. Widely considered one of the greatest actors from the former Yugoslavia, he starred in over 70 films, including '' The Smell of Quinces'' (1982), ''When Father Was Away on Business'' (1985), '' Reflections'' (1987), '' The Glembays'' (1988), '' Kuduz'' (1989), '' Silent Gunpowder'' (1990), ''The Perfect Circle'' (1997), '' Days and Hours'' (2004), ''Mirage'' (2004) and '' Halima's Path'' (2012).
