The Slips
The Slips are a UK electronic music duo, composed of David Treahearn and Rob Haggett. James Cooper is the duo's live drummer and regularly DJs in The Slips' Australasian club sets. The duo formed the band in Kentish Town in London, mid-2007 after they met while working together as studio engineers at Olympic Studios in London with artists including Madonna, Björk, The Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, New Order, Oasis and Massive Attack. Along with producing original electronic dance music and mixtapes, The Slips are also DJs and remixers having remixed international artists such as Björk The Crystal Fighters, CSS, LCD Soundsystem The XX, I Blame Coco, Phoenix, Kylie Minogue and Ellie Goulding as featured in NME Magazine. The XX
The xx are an English indie rock band from Wandsworth, London, formed in 2005. The band consists of Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass guitar, vocals), Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx (beats, MPC, record production), and formerly Baria Qureshi (keyboard, guitar). They are known for their distinct and minimalist sound that blends indie rock, indie electronic, indie pop, dream pop and electro-rock and the dual vocalist setup of both Croft and Sim. Their music employs soft, echoed guitar, prominent bass, light electronic beats and ambient soundscape backgrounds. The band was formed when Croft and Sim met during their time at Elliott School, with Baria Qureshi joining the same year and Smith a year later. After posting demos on their Myspace page, they drew the attention of the Beggars Group-owned label Young Turks (now Young). O2 Wireless
The Wireless Festival is a rap and urban music festival that takes place every year in London, England. It is owned and managed by Live Nation. While it started as primarily a rock and pop festival, in recent years it has focused on hip hop and other urban music. Headline acts since 2010 have included Jay-Z, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Stormzy. From its inception in 2005 until 2008, the festival was sponsored by telecommunications company O2, and was called the O2 Wireless Festival. From 2009 to 2012, the main sponsor was Barclaycard and the festival renamed to Barclaycard Wireless Festival. For 2013, the sponsor changed to Yahoo!, and was renamed to Yahoo! Wireless. ''Q'' was a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1986 by broadcast journalists Mark Ellen and David Hepworth, who were presenters of the BBC television music series ''The Old Grey Whistle Test''. ''Q'' was originally published by the EMAP media group and set itself apart from much of the other music press with monthly production and higher standards of photography and printing. The 2009 Glastonbury Festival/Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts was held from 24 to 29 June 2009. Tickets Registration In a similar way to previous festivals, tickets for the 2009 event required pre-registration (of a photograph and personal details) through the festival website. Zoe Fleury, better known by her stage name Zowie, is a singer-songwriter from New Zealand. Zowie has toured with artists Katy Perry, Mark Ronson, The Kills and Peaches under the name Bionic Pixie. She later changed her name to Zowie, and released her debut single " Broken Machine", which entered the Top 10 on the Official New Zealand Music Chart.
