''The Sky Is Red'' ( it, Il cielo è rosso) is a 1950 Italian drama film. It is the directorial debut of Claudio Gora and it is based on the novel with the same name by Giuseppe Berto, depicting the struggle for survival of a group of boys and girls in a bombed-out town in Italy during World War II. It was shown as part of a retrospective "Questi fantasmi: Cinema italiano ritrovato" at the 65th Venice International Film Festival. Claudio Gora
Claudio Gora, '' Emilio Giordana '' (27 July 1913 – 13 March 1998) was an Italian actor and film director. He was particularly prolific, making some 155 appearances in film and television over nearly 60 years (from 1939 to 1997). In the 1950s he did dabble with directing and screenwriting and directed the film Three Strangers in Rome in 1958 which was incidentally the first leading role by Claudia Cardinale. Mischa Auer (born Mikhail Semyonovich Unkovsky (Михаил Семёнович Унковский; 17 November 1905 – 5 March 1967) was a Russian-born American actor who moved to Hollywood in the late 1920s. He first appeared in film in 1928. Auer had a long career playing in many of the era's best known films. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1936 for his performance in the screwball comedy ''My Man Godfrey'', which led to further zany comedy roles. Amedeo Trilli (9 July 1906 – 30 November 1971) was an Italian film and television actor. Life and career Born in Ronciglione, Viterbo, at very young age Trilli worked as a circus artist, then in 1922 he studied performance at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and later he started working on stage. He made his film debut in the early days of the sound films, and from the 1940s his presence on the big screen became continuous. Liliana Tellini (19 January 1925 - 15 June 1971) was an Italian actress and voice actress. Life and career Born in Florence as Liliana Polledri she was the daughter of a Swiss father and a Venetian mother.
