''The Sixth Commandment'' (Swedish: ''Sjätte budet'') is a 1947 Swedish drama film directed by and starring Stig Järrel and also featuring Ester Roeck Hansen, Gösta Cederlund and Ingrid Backlin.Ramsaye p.42 It was shot at the Centrumateljéerna Studios in Stockholm. The film's sets were designed by the art director Nils Nilsson. The title refers to the Sixth Commandment for Lutherans "Thou shalt not commit adultery". Synopsis Jane Hagwald has been married for many years and has grown gradually dissatisfied in the relationship, and she takes a lover. When her daughter discovers her affair she drives her out of the home. Stig Järrel
Stig Järrel (8February 19101July 1998) was a Swedish actor, film director and revue artist. Järrel was one of the most popular actors in Sweden during his career, and also one of the most productive, participating in a total of 131 films. He also performed as an actor at various Swedish theatres and was a frequent guest on radio and television. Biography Stig Järrel was born Stig Ohlson in Malmberget in northern Sweden in 1910. In 1929, he was admitted as a drama student at the Royal Dramatic Theatre's Royal Dramatic Training Academy in Stockholm, and worked later for actor Gösta Ekman. He made his debut in a 1936 film with actor Edvard Persson called ''Larsson i det andra giftet''. Järrel was notably productive with an average participation of six films per year (often appearing in large supporting roles or leading ones), making a total of 131 film roles during his career. "Thou shalt not commit adultery" is found in the Book of Exodus of the Hebrew Bible. Maria Helena "Mimi" Pollak (9 April 1903 – 11 August 1999) was a Swedish actress and theatre director. Biography Maria Helena Pollak was born in Karlstad, Värmland to Austrian-Jewish parents and was trained in the performing arts at the prestigious Royal Dramatic Training Academy in Stockholm 1922-24. Pollak worked in the 1920s and 1930s as a film actress and as stage actress mainly on Helsingborg City Theatre and The Blanche Theatre, Stockholm, but she returned as an actress to Royal Dramatic Theatre ( Dramaten) 1942.
