The Sinister Man
''The Sinister Man'' is a 1961 British crime drama film directed by Clive Donner and starring Patrick Allen and John Bentley. It was one of the series of Edgar Wallace Mysteries, British second-features, produced at Merton Park Studios in the 1960s. Plot The body of an Oxford professor is found floating in the river Thames. He had previously been studying an archeological artefact known as the ''Kytang Wafers'', and this is now missing. Scotland Yard investigates. The wafers are bits of ancient text that could alter the relations between Red China and a Tibetan type nation called "Kytang". An autopsy reveals that the professor was murdered by a karate blow. Clive Stanley Donner (21 January 1926 – 6 September 2010) Ronald Berganbr>Obituary: Clive Donner ''The Guardian'', 7 September 2010 was a British film director who was part of the British New Wave, directing films such as ''The Caretaker'', '' Nothing but the Best'', ''What's New Pussycat?'', and '' Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush''. He also directed television movies and commercials through the mid-1990s. Early career Donner was born in West Hampstead, London. His father was a concert violinist and his mother ran a dress shop; his grandparents were Polish-Jewish immigrants. Donner began his filmmaking career while attending Kilburn Polytechnic. Yvonne Buckingham
Yvonne Buckingham is an English actress who appeared in a number of minor or background roles on episodes of British television series or in British films. She played the title role, though only briefly appearing as the deceased victim, in the 1959 film ''Sapphire'', but did appear in the lead role as Christine Keeler (who was not allowed to play herself) in the critically panned 1963 film '' The Christine Keeler Story''. Career 1950s In an early role, Buckingham played the part of a saloon girl in the Jack Lee direct film '' Robbery Under Arms''.
