Scar Symmetry
Scar Symmetry is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Avesta, formed in 2004. The band has released six albums, with seven released singles. They are signed to Nuclear Blast Records. History Formation and ''Symmetric in Design'' (2004−2005) Formed in April 2004, Scar Symmetry came together during the band Altered Aeon's recording session at Jonas Kjellgren's Black Lounge Studios by guitarists Jonas Kjellgren, Per Nilsson and drummer Henrik Ohlsson. Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Power Metal
Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. Generally, power metal is characterized by a faster, lighter, and more uplifting sound, in contrast with the heaviness and dissonance prevalent, for example, in extreme metal. Nuclear Blast
Nuclear Blast is a record label and mail order record distributor with subsidiaries in Germany, the United States and Brazil. The label was founded in 1987 by Markus Staiger in Germany. Per Nilsson (guitarist)
Per Nilsson is a Swedish guitarist and producer. He is best known as one of the founding members of the melodic death metal/progressive metal band Scar Symmetry and for being the touring lead guitarist for Meshuggah during Fredrik Thordendal's 2017-2021 hiatus. He is also the guitarist for Swedish progressive rock group Kaipa and since 2017 he is the lead guitarist for Swedish power metal band Nocturnal Rites. In January 2013, Guitar Messenger released a guitar instructional DVD with Nilsson called ''Scar Guitar''. Until 2013, he was endorsed by Ibanez Guitars. He is now endorsed by Strandberg Guitars, who in collaboration with him has created the Strandberg Singularity, his first signature guitar. ''The Unseen Empire'' is the fifth full-length studio album by Swedish Heavy Metal music, metal band Scar Symmetry. It was released on 15 April 2011 in Europe, and on 17 May 2011 in North America. The album sold around 1,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release, and landed at position number 11 on the Top Heatseekers, Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart. This is the last album to feature contributions from guitarist Jonas Kjellgren, who left the band in 2013 due to other commitments. The Singularity (Phase II – Xenotaph)
''The Singularity (Phase II – Xenotaph)'' is the seventh studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Scar Symmetry. The album was released on 9 June 2023 through Nuclear Blast and was produced by Per Nilsson, the band's lead guitarist. Background and promotion On 20 March 2023, Scar Symmetry announced that recording sessions have wrapped for the album and revealed the record's title. On 31 March, the band released the first single "Scorched Quadrant" and its corresponding music video. At the same time, they officially published the release date, album cover and track list. On 4 May, one month before the album release, the band released the second single "Chrononautilus" along with an accompanying music video.
