Jacques Tourneur
Jacques Tourneur (; November 12, 1904 – December 19, 1977) was a French film director known for the classic film noir ''Out of the Past'' and a series of low-budget horror films he made for RKO Studios, including ''Cat People (1942 film), Cat People'', ''I Walked with a Zombie'', and ''The Leopard Man''. He is also known for directing ''Night of the Demon'', which was released by Columbia Pictures. While in Hollywood, he was usually addressed by his anglicized name "Jack Turner", a literal and phonetic translation of his name in English. John Nesbitt (August 23, 1910 – August 10, 1960) was an actor, narrator, announcer, Film producer, producer and screenwriter. Nesbitt was best known as the narrator of the MGM series ''Passing Parade''. Early years Nesbitt, born John Booth Nesbitt in Victoria, British Columbia, was a grandson of actor Edwin Booth. He attended Saint Mary's College of California and the University of California. Stage Nesbitt was active in Repertory theatre, stock theater in Vancouver and Spokane. Radio Nesbitt began working for NBC in San Francisco in 1933. In 1935, he was an announcer at KFRC (defunct), KFRC in San Francisco. His signature program, ''The Passing Parade'', was first broadcast in 1937 and ended in 1949, sometimes in 15-minute episodes and sometimes in 30-minute episodes. Leonard Penn (13 November 1907 – 20 May 1975) was an American film, television and theatre actor. Early life and education Penn was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to parents Marcus Penn and Eva Monson. He majored in drama at Columbia University. During World War II, Penn served in Navy intelligence. Career Known for his work in film serials and bit parts in major films, Penn appeared in 81 films and 27 television productions between 1937 and 1960. Penn also appeared in six Broadway-theatre productions in New York City between 1934 and 1941. Rhea Ginger Mitchell (December 10, 1890 – September 16, 1957) was an American film actress and screenwriter who appeared in over 100 films, mainly during the silent era. A native of Portland, Oregon, Mitchell began her acting career in local theater, and joined the Baker Stock Company after completing high school. She appeared in various regional theater productions on the West Coast between 1911 and 1913. In 1912, Mitchell signed with the New York Motion Picture Corporation, making her film debut in ''The Colonel's Ward'', directed by Edward LeSaint. ''Mary Celeste'' (; often erroneously referred to as Marie Celeste) was an American-registered merchant brigantine, best known for being discovered adrift and deserted in the Atlantic Ocean off the Azores Islands on December 4, 1872. The Canadian brigantine found her in a dishevelled but seaworthy condition under partial sail and with her lifeboat missing. The last entry in her log was dated ten days earlier. She had left New York City for Genoa on November 7 and was still amply provisioned when found. Her cargo of alcohol was intact, and the captain's and crew's personal belongings were undisturbed.
