The Shift (2010 Film)
''The Shift'' is a short film directed by David Trumble, starring Greg Lock and Graham Hornsby. The film, written by David Trumble, Matt Brothers, and Greg Lock, focuses on a paramedic and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) working for the London Ambulance Service on a night shift. Plot The protagonist Damon Yorke, played by Greg Lock is a young but highly valued and experienced London based paramedic. Damon is having some relationship problems with his girlfriend Clare and is being forced to attend couples counseling. Damon is advised to try phoning Clare just before she goes to bed, whilst he is on shift work, just to reassure her that he is okay and that he loves her. However, on the first night shift when he wants to try this new system he accidentally leaves his phone at home. "The Shift" is a song by American alternative metal band 10 Years. It was their first single off of their ninth studio album, '' Violent Allies''. It peaked on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Songs chart at 25 in 2020. Background and recording The song was recorded in late 2019 for the band's upcoming untitled ninth studio album due out in 2020. The song was recorded with music producer Howard Benson, who the band previously worked with on their album '' Feeding the Wolves''. The song was the product of very challenging recording sessions with Benson, who rejected 75% of the material previously written prior to entering the studio, leaving the band to write and record new material in the studio on the spot with Benson. A lyric video was released at the same time as the single's May 15, 2020 release. As of October 2020, the single had peaked at number 25 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock. ''Surfin' Safari'' is the debut album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released October 1, 1962 on Capitol Records. The official production credit went to Nick Venet, though it was Brian Wilson with his father Murry who contributed substantially to the album's production; Brian also wrote or co-wrote nine of its 12 tracks. The album reached number 32 in the US during a chart stay of 37 weeks. The album was preceded by two singles: " Surfin'" and " Surfin' Safari", which charted at numbers 75 and 14, respectively. Leilani Farha is a Canadian lawyer who is the Global Director of THE SHIFT, a housing initiative. Between June 2014 and April 2020, she was the United Nations special rapporteur on adequate housing. Career Farha is legally trained and an alumna of the University of Toronto, and has been an Executive Director of the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation (CERA) and Canada Without Poverty. United Nations special rapporteur on housing In her tenure as Special Rapporteur, she has focused on economic inequality and an absence of effective political representation for the poor as causes of homelessness or inadequate accommodation. Clifton Grima is a Maltese lawyer and politician who has served in the Parliament of Malta since 2016. A member of the Labour Party, Grima is also the Minister for Education and Sport. Political career In 2010, Grima graduated from the University of Malta with a Legum Doctor degree. Following this, Grima was elected as the mayor of Msida, serving as mayor from 2009 to 2013. He was later appointed by Joseph Muscat, the prime minister of Malta, to be the CEO of Mount Carmel Hospital.
