''Selector Radio'' is a weekly two-hour Radio program, radio show produced by Folded Wing for the British Council. It covers a variety of music genres, ranging from Grime (music genre), grime, Indie rock, indie, Soul music, soul, and dance and features live sessions and DJ mixes. Launched in 2001, as ''The Selector'', the show is now broadcast in more than 30 countries. In 2011, The Sunday Times likened ''Selector Radio'' to "the best of John Peel". Smoke Fairies (Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies) are a British band hailing from Chichester. History Blamire and Davies met at school in Sussex during the late 1990s. They spent 2002 in New Orleans, where they absorbed American blues music. When they returned to England they discovered British folk music at the Sidmouth Folk Week Festival while working as car park attendants. For most of their existence, they were run by ZAFER Associates, but in latter years were brought under the control of The Radio Academy.
