The Seer (Big Country Album)
''The Seer'' is the third studio album by the Scottish band Big Country, released in 1986. The album featured very traditional Scottish musical settings, reminiscent of the band's debut album '' The Crossing'' (1983). Kate Bush worked on the title song in a duet with lead singer and lyricist Stuart Adamson. The album's first single, "Look Away", was an Irish number one, and was also the group's biggest hit single in the UK, reaching #7. The album reached number 2 in the UK Albums Chart. Lyrics and music ''The Seer'' saw Big Country return to the sweeping Scottish sound that had made them famous on ''The Crossing''. It is sometimes considered to be the band's most overtly Celtic album, with many of the songs containing explicit or veiled references to Scottish history - for example, "Remembrance Day" deals with the Highland Clearances (in which thousands of Highlanders were relocated to British colonial possessions such as Canada and New Zealand), "Red Fox" is about the 1752 ...

The Seer (periodical)
''The Seer'' was an official periodical of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) which first appeared in 1853 and was published throughout 1854. History of publication After the LDS Church publicly acknowledged that it was teaching and practicing plural marriage at its September 1852 conference, LDS Church president Brigham Young dispatched apostle Orson Pratt to Washington, D.C., where he was asked to publish an apologetic magazine targeted at non-Mormons. The primary purpose of the magazine would be to explain and defend the principles of Mormonism. The first edition of ''The Seer'' was published in January 1853, with future editions being produced monthly. The contents of ''The Seer'' were composed almost entirely of original writings by Pratt. Throughout its publication history, the majority of Pratt's writing stressed the rationality of the doctrine of plural marriage. For example, Pratt dedicated 107 of the 192 total pages of ''The Seer'' to a twelve- ...

The Seer (Swans Album)
''The Seer'' is the twelfth studio album by American experimental music, experimental rock band Swans (band), Swans and was released on August 28, 2012 by Gira's own record label Young God Records. Producer and frontman Michael Gira funded the recording of the album with the sales of ''We Rose from Your Bed with the Sun in Our Head''. While the previous studio album ''My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky'' was seen as a cross between Gira's solo project Angels of Light and Swans discography, late Swans, ''The Seer'' strayed away from Angels of Light's more accessible songs and lyricism, focusing more around sonic landscapes. The album features a variety of instrumentation and guest musicians, including the post-punk band Yeah Yeah Yeahs vocalist Karen O and former Swans member Jarboe. The album is noteworthy due to its extended song lengths, particularly its over thirty minute title track, as well as its frequent experimentation with drone music, drone and noise music, noise ...
