Seed Company, also referred to as SC or formally The Seed Company, is a subsidiary organization of Wycliffe USA and a participant in the Wycliffe Global Alliance. SC was launched in 1993 by a former president of Wycliffe USA, Bernie May. Their focus is on linking donors to Bible translation projects where local people are doing Bible translation into their own languages. Wycliffe USA
Wycliffe Bible Translators USA (also known as Wycliffe USA) is an interdenominational nonprofit organization with a goal "for people from every language to understand the Bible and be transformed." Based in Orlando, Florida, it partners with many organizations and churches around the world to help facilitate the work of Bible translation. It is the largest of the many independent organizations that together are part of Wycliffe Global Alliance. Wycliffe Global Alliance is an alliance of organizations that have objective of translating the Bible into every language. The organisation is named after John Wycliffe, who was responsible for the first complete English translation of the whole Bible into Middle English. Wycliffe is most often associated with the Protestant section of Christianity. There are currently over 100 Wycliffe member organisations from over 60 countries. Bible Translation
The Bible has been translated into many languages from the biblical languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. all of the Bible has been translated into 724 languages, the New Testament has been translated into an additional 1,617 languages, and smaller portions of the Bible have been translated into 1,248 other languages according to Wycliffe Global Alliance. Thus, at least some portions of the Bible have been translated into 3,589 languages. Early translators rendered biblical texts into Syriac, Latin, Geez, Gothic and Slavonic languages, among others. The Forum of Bible Agencies International is an alliance of more than 25 international Bible Agencies and other missions organizations which provides access to the Bible and encourages its use worldwide. The Forum provides standards for Bible translation and opportunities for the collaboration of Bible Agencies in many different countries. The members of the Forum of Bible Agencies International do work in more than 120 countries and are headquartered in five different nations.
