''The Scent of the Night'' ( it, L'odore della notte) is a 1998 Italian crime-drama film directed by Claudio Caligari. It is loosely based on the novel ''Le notti di arancia meccanica'' by Dido Sacchettoni. The film premiered at the 1998 Venice Film Festival. It was nominated for three Nastro d'Argento Awards. Claudio Caligari
Claudio Caligari (7 February 1948 – 26 May 2015) was an Italian director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Arona, Piedmont, Caligari began his career as a documentarist, often collaborating with Franco Barbero; his first work was ''Perché droga'' (1975). He made his feature film debut in 1983, with the drug-centered drama '' Toxic Love'', which won the De Sica Award at the 40th Venice International Film Festival. Only fifteen years later he directed another work, the neo-noir ''The Scent of the Night''. He completed the editing of his third and last film, '' Non essere cattivo'', a few days before his death from a tumour. Little Tony (singer)
Little Tony (born Antonio Ciacci; 9 February 1941 – 27 May 2013) was a Sammarinese singer and actor, who achieved success in Britain in the late 1950s and early 1960s, as the lead singer of Little Tony & His Brothers, before returning to Italy where he continued a successful career as a singer and film actor. Life and career Little Tony was born in Tivoli, Italy, but was a citizen of San Marino, where his parents were born, and never applied for Italian citizenship. He formed a rock and roll group with his two brothers, Alberto and Enrico, in 1957, naming himself Little Tony in emulation of Little Richard. The following year, the group were signed by Durium Records, who released a series of covers of American rock and roll songs by them in Italy. In 1959, the Italian singer Marino Marini, when in London, recommended the group to TV pop show producer Jack Good. Giorgio Tirabassi
Giorgio Tirabassi (born 1 February 1960) is an Italian film, television, and stage actor, as well as director. Life and career Born in Rome, Tirabassi made his debut as an actor in avant-garde theater and then worked at the Teatro Stabile di Catania. Since 1982, he has been a member of the stage company of Gigi Proietti. His breakout role was the inspector Ardenzi in the Canale 5 crime TV-series '' Distretto di Polizia''. In 2001, he made his directorial debut with the short ''Non dire gatto'', winning a David di Donatello for Best Short Film. In 2011, he won a Ciak d'oro for best supporting actor for his performance in Ascanio Celestini's '' La pecora nera''. Tirabassi is also a singer and is the lead vocalist in the band Music Inn. On 1 November 2019, Tirabassi suffered a heart attack while presenting his first movie as director. He was hospitalized in stable condition, and recovered in a short time.
