''The Saturday Starship'' is a British Saturday morning children's series that was produced by Central Television and aired on the ITV network. There was one series of 21 editions between 1 September 1984 and 26 January 1985 hosted by Tommy Boyd, Bonnie Langford Bonita Melody Lysette "Bonnie" Langford (born 22 July 1964) is an English actress, dancer and singer. Tommy Boyd
Timothy Leslie Boyd (born 14 December 1952), better known as Tommy Boyd, is a British radio presenter. Television From 1977 to 1980, Boyd was co-presenter of the ITV children's magazine programme ''Magpie'' replacing Douglas Rae. In 1981, he presented ''What's Happening?'', a news quiz. He also presented the Saturday TV-am show ''Wide Awake Club'' from 1986–1990, and its Sunday spin-off ''WAC Extra'', throughout the 1980s. In 1982, he joined the cast of ''Jigsaw'', including Janet Ellis, Sylvester McCoy and David Rappaport. Boyd also hosted Children's BBC programme called ''Puzzle Trail''. Bonita Melody Lysette "Bonnie" Langford (born 22 July 1964) is an English actress, dancer and singer. She came to prominence as a child star in the 1970s, when she had a notable role in the TV series ''Just William''. In the 1980s, she played companion Mel Bush in '' Doctor Who''. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. The Saturday Show (ITV TV Series)
''The Saturday Show'' is Birmingham-based Central Television's Saturday morning children's TV programme which replaced their previous show Tiswas. It ran on ITV for two series between 23 October 1982 and 14 April 1984. It was originally planned that popular wrestler Big Daddy would host and that it would be called "Big Daddy's Saturday Show". A pilot show was recorded with Big Daddy presenting, assisted by Isla St Clair and short films were shot with Big Daddy to insert in the upcoming series; a trailer for "Big Daddy's Saturday Show", complete with logo was shown on ITV the Saturday morning before the show was due to air. It was then announced during the week that Big Daddy was dropping out and that Isla St Clair would now take the lead, with ex-Magpie host Tommy Boyd assisting and with Jeremy Beadle being used as an occasional "stand in" host.
