The Salt Prince
''The Salt Prince'' ( Slovak: ''Soľ nad zlato'', Czech: ''Sůl nad zlato'', German: ''Der Salzprinz'', Italian: ''Il Solto Prinzzo'') is a Slovak fairy-tale movie based on a novel by Pavol Dobšinský. The movie's central lesson is that salt, as it is necessary for life, is more precious than gold and emeralds. Viewpoint Though ostensibly a fairy-tale, ''The Salt Prince'' makes several profound and idealistic observations about life and human nature. It also probes into Slovak cultural heritage and values. Plot The story tells a story about old king Pravoslav who wants to pass his throne on to one of his three daughters. The closest to his heart is his youngest, Maruška, but he wants to confirm his decision by reason not only by feelings, so he follows the advice of the court jester to decide according to their confessions of daughterly love towards him and of their bridegrooms. Libuše Šafránková
Libuše Šafránková (7 June 1953 – 9 June 2021, married as ''Abrhámová'') was a Czech actress. Her husband was actor Josef Abrhám. Her breakthrough was the title role in the 1973 film '' Three Nuts for Cinderella'', which is considered a Christmas film classic in many parts of Europe. In the 1970s and 1980s, she played leading roles in many fairy-tale films. Her later films include the Oscar-winning ''Kolya'' (1996), for which she received the Czech Lion Award for Best Actress in a film in 1996. In 2008 she received the prize ''Hvězda mého srdce'' (Star of My Heart), awarded by Czech Television. She died two days after her 68th birthday. Juraj Kukura
Juraj Kukura (born 15 March 1947, in Prešov) is a Slovak actor. Kukura studied acting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU). Since 1985, when he emigrated to West Germany, his films were banned in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic until Communist ruled ended through the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Thanks to his charismatic personality he usually portrayed strong, leading characters. In 2004, he received DOSKY Award for performing ''Martin'' in ''The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?'' by Edward Albee. In 2003 he became managing director of Arena Theatre. The Dirty Shepherdess is a French fairy tale collected by Paul Sébillot. Andrew Lang included it in ''The Green Fairy Book''. Plot summary A king asked his two daughters how much they loved him. His older said as the apple of her eye. The younger said as much as the salt on her food. He ordered her out of the kingdom. She went, with her dresses and jewels. She made herself ugly, so that a farmwife would not be unready to lease her, and wore a beggar's clothing. Finally, she was leased as a shepherdess. "The Goose-Girl at the Well" (German: ''Die Gänsehirtin am Brunnen'') is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm (KHM 179). It is Aarne-Thompson type 923 ('Love Like Salt'). Synopsis An old woman raised geese in the mountains. One day, speaking of her heavy burden, she persuaded a count to carry it for her up the mountain. He found it burdensome, but she would not let him even rest. Dietlinde Turban (born 27 August 1957 in Reutlingen in Germany) is the birth name and stage name of Dietlinde Turban Maazel, a German actress. Her brother is the violinist Ingolf Turban.
