The Salamander (1981 Film)
''The Salamander'' is a 1981 thriller film directed by Peter Zinner in his directorial debut. The film is based on a 1973 novel with the same name by Morris West. Plot Policeman Dante Matucci investigates a series of murders involving people in prominent positions. Left behind at each murder scene is a drawing of a salamander. As the body count grows he sees a pattern that might point to a neo-fascist conspiracy to take over the Italian government. Peter Zinner
Peter Zinner (July 24, 1919 – November 13, 2007) was an Austrian-American film editor. Following nearly fifteen years of uncredited work as an assistant sound editor, Zinner received credits on more than fifty films from 1959 to 2006. His most influential films are likely ''The Godfather'' and ''The Godfather Part II'', both of which appear on a 2012 listing of the 75 best edited films of all time compiled by the Motion Picture Editors Guild. Early life He was born in Vienna, Austria, and studied music there in the Theresianum and at the Max Reinhardt Seminar. Following the occupation of Austria by Nazi Germany in 1938, Zinner and his parents, who were Jewish, emigrated. They went first to the Philippines, and in 1940 to the United States. Marino Masé
Marino Masè (21 March 1939 – 28 May 2022) was an Italian actor who appeared in more than 70 films. Life Masè was born in Trieste on 21 March 1939. While still a teenager, he joined the laboratory for young actors of the production company Vides by Franco Cristaldi and studied acting under Alessandro Fersen. He made his stage debut in 1960 in ''L'arialda'', directed by Luchino Visconti, and his film debut in the 1961 adventure '' Romulus and the Sabines'' by Richard Pottier. He had several leading roles in the first half of the 1960s, including Marco Bellocchio's ''Fists in the Pocket'' and Jean-Luc Godard's ''Les Carabiniers'', then he was mainly cast in supporting roles. Strindberg appeared as Anita Edberg in two Swedish films in the late 1950s. John Steiner
John Steiner (7 January 1941 – 31 July 2022) was an English actor. Tall, thin and gaunt, he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and performed on-stage for the Royal Shakespeare Company, but was best known to audiences for his roles in Italian films, several of which became cult classics.
