The Sagebrush Lady
''The Sagebrush Lady'' is a 1925 American silent Western film directed by Horace B. Carpenter and starring Eileen Sedgwick, Ben Corbett, and Jack Richardson. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Harmony Hayden, a government agent, arrives in the area in disguise to check the operation of cattle rustlers around Paula Loring's ranch. His identity is not suspected by the local people. Neighboring rancherman Tom Doyle schemes to marry Paula. The young woman saves Harmony from being lynched after being suspected of being a holdup man after he said that he was her fiance. Tom Doyle's foreman is foiled by Harmony in an attempt to kidnap Paula. Having broken up the gang, Harmony remains after becoming Paula's husband. Quintus Horatius Flaccus (; 8 December 65 – 27 November 8 BC), known in the English-speaking world as Horace (), was the leading Roman lyric poet during the time of Augustus (also known as Octavian). William Steele (actor)
William Anton Gittinger (March 28, 1888 – February 13, 1966), best known as William Steele, was an American actor of small roles in Westerns, particularly those of John Ford. Biography Although his screen credits and many records indicate a wide variety of names and spellings, Steele's own signatures on his military documents indicate that he was born William Anton Gittinger on March 28, 1888 (not 1889, as some sources have it) in San Antonio, Texas. Little is known of his life prior to his arrival in Los Angeles around 1910. As the film industry in Hollywood was just blossoming, and as he apparently had great experience with horses, Steele easily obtained work in quickie Westerns. He fought in Europe in World War I, then returned to Hollywood. While he was extremely inconsistent in the names he used, he worked consistently in Westerns throughout the silent era and up until the 1950s. Lynching is an extrajudicial killing by a group. It is most often used to characterize informal public executions by a mob in order to punish an alleged transgressor, punish a convicted transgressor, or intimidate people.
