The Ryland Inn is a restaurant in Readington Township, New Jersey, that won the James Beard Mid-Atlantic region top prize. It won several awards and was visited by then-president Ronald Reagan. Readington Township, New Jersey
Readington Township is a township located in the easternmost portion of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 16,126, reflecting an increase of 323 (+2.0%) from the 15,803 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 2,403 (+17.9%) from the 13,400 counted in the 1990 Census. Created by Royal charter of King George II, "Reading" Township was formed on July 15, 1730, from portions of Amwell Township. It was the first new township created after Hunterdon was established as an independent county. The township was incorporated as Readingtown Township, one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships, on February 21, 1798. Portions of the township were annexed by Tewksbury Township in 1832 and 1861. The township was named for John Reading, the first native-born governor of the British Province of New Jersey. James Beard
James Andrews Beard (May 5, 1903 – January 23, 1985) was an American chef, cookbook author, teacher and television personality. He pioneered television cooking shows, taught at The James Beard Cooking School in New York City and Seaside, Oregon, and lectured widely. He emphasized American cooking, prepared with fresh, wholesome, American ingredients, to a country just becoming aware of its own culinary heritage. Beard taught and mentored generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts. He published more than twenty books, and his memory is honored by his foundation's annual James Beard Awards. Craig Shelton
Craig Anthony Shelton (born May 1, 1957) is a retired American basketball player. He played in parts of two seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Shelton, a 6'7" small forward from Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C., played college basketball with his high school teammate John Duren at Georgetown University from 1976 to 1980. For his college career, Shelton scored 1,409 points (15.2 per game) and collected 691 rebounds (7.4 per game). After the close of his college career, Shelton was drafted in the second round of the 1980 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks (28th overall). He played for the Hawks for the 1980–81 NBA season, and played 4 games of the 1981–82 season before being waived.
