In 1989, American country music group The Desert Rose Band released their version as the third single from the album ''Running''. It reached number 3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. An alternate version of the song appeared as track 1 on a DRB 5-track CD sampler in 1988 (Curb CD 33-3004). Music video The Desert Rose Band released a music video of the song in early 1989, which was directed by Bill Pope and produced by Joanne Gardner for Acme Pictures. Bill Gibson (drummer)
Bill Gibson is an American drummer. Since 1979, he has been the drummer for Huey Lewis and the News. Since the band's hiatus in 2020, he is currently a member of the Sons of Champlin. Biography Gibson was born in Sacramento to Edward and Phyllis Gibson. Gibson started playing the drums at age twelve. His father, Ed, was an architect, and played drums after finishing work for the day. He was influenced by Art Blakey and Buddy Rich. In 1967, his father took him to the Monterey Jazz Festival. He eventually required his first drum kit at fourteen, and as a teenager saw The Beatles twice, and The Dave Clark Five. Bill joined Huey Lewis and the News as drummer in 1979. Johnny Colla
John Victor Colla (born July 2, 1952) is an American musician (playing the guitar and saxophone), singer and songwriter. He is a founding member of the American rock band Huey Lewis and the News. He has been heavily involved in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene for decades, having been in several other bands, including Rubicon, Sly and the Family Stone, Van Morrison, Sound Hole, and Johnny Colla & The Lucky Devils. Colla has two children, Allison Colla and Ryan Colla. Career The first bands that Colla was involved with from Fairfield, California,were The Furlanders, The Yewess Army and Cottonmouth. In the early 1970s, he moved to Marin County, California and joined Sound Hole as a singer and saxophonist. Sound Hole was successful at a local level and became Van Morrison's backing band for a time. Andrew Bodnar
Andrew Bodnar is an English bass player who grew up in Clapham, South London. He and drummer Steve Goulding (The Rumour, The Mekons, etc) met and began playing together as a rhythm section while still at school. They spent their teenage years auditioning and busking whenever they could, and were gigging around London with a cajun-influenced band called Bontemps Roulez just prior to forming The Rumour in 1975. Bodnar is probably best known for his membership with Graham Parker and The Rumour (1975-1980), for playing the distinctive reggae-flavored bassline on " Watching the Detectives" by Elvis Costello, and for bass playing and co-writing (with Steve Goulding and Nick Lowe) " I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" by Nick Lowe. Michael Webb Pierce (August 8, 1921 – February 24, 1991) was an American honky-tonk vocalist, songwriter and guitarist of the 1950s, one of the most popular of the genre, charting more number one hits than any other country artist during the decade. His biggest hit was "In the Jailhouse Now", which charted for 37 weeks in 1955, 21 of them at number one. Bobby Irwin
Bobby Irwin (23 March 1953 – 8 May 2015) was an English drummer, record producer and songwriter. He is known for working in close collaboration with Nick Lowe as co-songwriter and drummer and as a member of Lowe's band the Cowboy Outfit, as well as being the drummer for Van Morrison. Irwin was also a member of the bands Roogalator, the Sinceros and the Balham Alligators. As well as working alongside Nick Lowe and Van Morrison, Irwin also played drums/produced for many other bands and artists including Bryan Ferry, John Hiatt, Lene Lovich, Paul Carrack, Carlene Carter, Billy Bremner, Geraint Watkins, Jim Lauderdale, Eleni Mandell, Norman Bergen, Tres Chicas and My Darling Clementine. Irwin was also known as Robert Trehern (or Treherne), being credited on certain releases under that name. Robert was his given name, and Trehern was his mother's maiden name.
