The Roast
''The Roast'' was a flagship Australian satirical news show that screened on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television channel ABC2. The daily ten-minute show was hosted by Tom Glasson and featured Mark Humphries, Clarke Richards, Alex Lee, Jazz Twemlow and Nich Richardson. ''The Roast'' began life online as a one-minute, news headlines show in 2011. It expanded to a two-minute series in 2012 which also screened on ABC2. From 8 April 2013, it began screening on ABC2 in a regular timeslot at 7.30pm weeknights as a 10-minute program. It was then renewed for another season in 2014, again as a 10-minute daily show, with the addition of ABC News 24 presenter Alex Lee, replacing Rachel Corbett. Mark Humphries (television Personality)
Mark Ian Humphries (born 4 October 1965) is a former English cricketer. Humphries was a left-handed batsman (cricket), batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Highley, Shropshire. Humphries made his debut for Staffordshire County Cricket Club, Staffordshire in the 1990 Minor Counties Championship against Northumberland County Cricket Club, Northumberland. Humphries played Minor counties of English and Welsh cricket, Minor counties cricket for Staffordshire from 1990 to 2003, which included 115 Minor Counties Championship matches and 41 MCCA Knockout Trophy. Alex Lee (Australian Comedian)
Alexandra Clair Lee is an Australian comedian, writer, actor, and television presenter. She has appeared in a range of comedy television series on the ABC and SBS, including '' The Feed'' and several programs by The Chaser team. She is also the host of the ABC quiz show ''Win the Week'', starring alongside Craig Reucassel. Early life Lee was born to an Australian mother and a Chinese father, who met in Sydney in 1975. Satire
Satire is a genre of the visual, literary, and performing arts, usually in the form of fiction and less frequently non-fiction, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, often with the intent of shaming or exposing the perceived flaws of individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia. It is principally funded by direct grants from the Australian Government and is administered by a government-appointed board. ABC2
ABC TV Plus (formerly ABC2 and ABC Comedy) is an Australian free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and part of its ABC Television network. The channel broadcasts a range of general entertainment programming. Between the hours of 5am and 7.30pm daily, the channel's bandwidth is used for the ABC Kids channel for young children. Rachel Corbett is an Australian podcaster, television and radio presenter, and writer. She hosts a number of podcasts, and is a weekly panelist and fill-in host for Network 10's '' The Project''. TV Tonight is an Australian-based website which features reviews, news and programming information related to television in Australia as well as OzTAM ratings information. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. Knox runs the site, publishing his interviews with Australian media actors, producers, directors and programmers. Knox regularly visits the sets of Australian television series and reviews television programs. Knox also served as television critic for Radio National's breakfast program from 2009 to 2015.
