Carrie Daumery
Carrie Daumery (25 March 1863 – 1 July 1938) was a Belgian-born American film actress. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1908 and 1937. Personal life Daumery was the sister of violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. She was also the widow of Belgian pianist Ysaye Daumery and the mother of film director John Daumery. Daumery and her husband were traveling in Switzerland when World War I began; when they returned to Belgium, they discovered German soldiers occupying their home. Subsequently, their son fought in the war, and her husband's health failed. When the war ended, Daumery's husband was dead, and her son was recovering from poison gas and wounds. Daumery died in Los Angeles, California. Career Daumery began acting on stage at age 17 in roles that she described to a reporter as "artistic". May Beatty (4 June 1880–1 April 1945) was a New Zealand singer and stage and screen actress. She was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 4 June 1880. Biography Beatty began her performing career at age seven, touring with Pollard's Lilliputian Opera Company. Her first performances in England were in 1908. In 1923 she toured Australia with Hugh J. Ward's company, performing in musical comedies. Beatty was married to Edward Lauri and had one daughter, Bonnie Beatty, a screen actress. She died in Hollywood. Ethel Griffies (born Ethel Woods; 26 April 1878 – 9 September 1975) was an English actress of stage, screen, and television. She is remembered for portraying the ornithologist Mrs. Bundy in Alfred Hitchcock's classic '' The Birds'' (1963). She appeared in stage roles in her native England and in the United States, and had featured roles in around 100 motion pictures. Griffies was one of the oldest working actors in the English-speaking theatre at the time of her death at 97 years old. She acted alongside such stars as May Whitty, Ellen Terry, and Anna Neagle. Francis Lumsden Hare (17 October 1874 – 28 August 1964) was an Irish-born film and theatre actor. He was also a theatre director and theatrical producer. Early years Hare studied at St. Dunstan's College in London. Career Hare appeared in more than 35 Broadway productions between 1900 and 1942. In 1908 he first appeared on Broadway in the hit play ''What Every Woman Knows'' starring Maude Adams. He served as director and/or producer for various productions, some starring himself. He started appearing in films in 1916. By his last screen appearance in 1961, Hare had appeared in more than 140 films and over a dozen television productions. Alison Skipworth (born Alison Mary Elliott Margaret Groom; 25 July 18635 July 1952) was an English stage and screen actress. Early years Skipworth was born in London. She was the daughter of Dr. Richard Ebenezer Groom and Elizabeth Rodgers, and she had a private education. Stage Alison Skipworth made her first stage appearance at Daly's Theatre in London in 1894, in '' A Gaiety Girl''. Her first American performance came the following year at the Broadway Theatre in New York City. She sang in light opera in '' An Artist's Model''.
