The River (South African TV Series)
''The River'' is a South African telenovela created by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon. It is an M-Net original production produced by Tshedza Pictures for DStv's general entertainment subscription channel 1Magic and is available for streaming on Naspers' subscription-based video-on-demand service Showmax. From 2019 reruns began airing on Mzansi Magic, broadcasting weekdays (from Monday to Friday) at 19:00 and other older reruns on Mzansi Wethu, broadcasting weekdays at 20:00 since 2021. In 2021, series lead Sindi Dlathu was announced as co-executive producer for the show's fourth season. In November 2021, The River was renewed for season 5 which premiered on 7 February 2022. The River has been renewed for season 6 which is set to premiere in February 2023 and Siyabonga Thwala is set to join the cast of The River for season 6 as he makes his debut on the 10th February 2023 as Bangizwe Zwane , an astute and successful businessman. Sindi Dlathu
Sindiswa Dlathu (born January 4, 1974) is a South African people, South African actress and musician. She is well known for portraying Thandaza Mokoena on ''Muvhango'', a role she played from the show's inception in 1997 until her departure in 2018. Dlathu left ''Muvhango'' to play a leading role in the telenovela The River (South African TV series), ''The River'', where she plays the role of Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana, a fierce woman, who would do anything to protect her wealth and maintain her lavish lifestyle. Career Dlathu was cast as the lead role's understudy in the stage version of ''Sarafina! (musical), Sarafina!''. In the screen version, she worked alongside Whoopi Goldberg and was commissioned as an assistant choreographer to Michael Peters (choreographer), Michael Peters. The Premier Mine is an underground diamond mine owned by Petra Diamonds in the town of Cullinan, east of Pretoria, Gauteng Province, South Africa.
