The Revenge Of Roger
''The Revenge of Roger'' (French: ''La revanche de Roger la Honte'') is a 1946 French historical crime film directed by André Cayatte and starring Lucien Coëdel, María Casares and Paul Bernard. The film is based on a novel by Jules Mary.Goble p.311 It was a sequel to the film '' Roger la Honte'' also directed by Cayatte which had been shot in 1945 but was released in 1946. The film's sets were designed by the art director Jacques Colombier. André Cayatte
André Cayatte (3 February 1909, in Carcassonne – 6 February 1989, in Paris) was a French filmmaker, writer and lawyer, who became known for his films centering on themes of crime, justice, and moral responsibility. Cayatte began his directoral career at the German-controlled Continental Films during the French occupation. Some of Cayatte's earlier films that addressed his characteristic themes include ''Justice est faite'' (''Justice is Done''; 1950), ''Nous sommes tous des assassins'' (''We Are All Murderers''; 1952), and ''Le passage du Rhin'' ('' Tomorrow Is My Turn''; 1960). In 1963, he undertook a bold experiment in film narrative with a set of two films: ''Jean-Marc ou La vie conjugale'' (''Anatomy of a Marriage: My Days with Jean-Marc'') and ''Françoise ou La vie conjugale'' (''Anatomy of a Marriage: My Days with Françoise''). Jean Desailly (24 August 1920 – 11 June 2008) was a French actor. He was a member of the Comédie-Française from 1942 to 1946, and later participated in about 90 movies. Life and career Desailly studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts and the Conservatoire de Paris winning first prize, joining the Comédie-Française in 1942. In 1946 he became a leading member of the Jean-Louis Barrault- Madeleine Renaud company at the Théâtre Marigny, playing in a wide repertoire from ''Les Fausses Confidences'', ''Bérénice'' and '' Le Songe d'une nuit d'été''.
