The Return Of The Prodigal Son (1976 Film)
''The Return of the Prodigal Son'' ( ar, عودة الابن الضال, translit. Awdat Al Ibn Aldal) is a 1976 Egyptian drama film directed by direcor Youssef Chahine. Plot Ali, the son of a prominent family in a rural town, returns after being gone for 12 years. The hopes of his family and the town itself were pinned to his success in Cairo. But due to a series of events in a failed architectural scheme that resulted in a tower collapsing, he was jailed for 3 years. At home, he experiences the warm reception of his father, mother, his would-be bride, and nephew. But excitement soon turns to disillusionment as the family and town see that he will not be able to fix the failures of the family's company and the economic backbone of the town. Eventually at his own wedding, Ali takes a gun and shoots down his brother and mother. Ali's brother, Tolba, manages to shoot Ali before they both succumb to their wounds. Youssef Chahine
Youssef Chahine ( ar, يوسف شاهين, Yūsuf Shāhīn ; 25 January 1926 – 27 July 2008) was an Egyptians, Egyptian film director. He was active in the Cinema of Egypt, Egyptian film industry from 1950 until his death. He directed twelve films that were listed in the Top 100 Egyptian films list. A winner of the Cannes 50th Anniversary Award (for lifetime achievement), Chahine was credited with launching the career of actor Omar Sharif. A well-regarded director with critics, he was often present at film festivals during the earlier decades of his work. Chahine gained his largest international audience as one of the co-directors of ''11'9"01 September 11'' (2002). Muhammad Salah Eldin Bahgat Ahmad Helmy (, ), known as "Salah Jaheen" or "Salah Jahin" ( ar, صلاح جاهين, ; December 25, 1930 – April 21, 1986) was a leading Egyptian poet, lyricist, playwright and cartoonist. Life and career Jaheen was born in Shobra district, Cairo in 1930 to a middle-class family. He studied law in Cairo University. In 1955, he started working for the Egyptian weekly magazine "Rose al-Yousef" as a cartoonist. A year later, he moved to the new magazine "Sabah el-Khair" for which he became the editor-in-chief, then he joined Al-Ahram. Together with Fuad Haddad, Jaheen had a great role in development of Egyptian colloquial poetry. In fact, the term "shi'r al-ammiya" or "Arabic colloquial poetry" was only coined in 1961 by a group of young poets including Salah Jahin, Abd Al-Rahman Abnudi, Fuad Qaud and Sayyid Higab who called themselves "Jama't Ibn Arus". Hesham Selim
Hesham Selim ( ar, هشام سليم; 27 January 1958 – 22 September 2022) was an Egyptian film and television actor. He’s the son of Saleh Selim. He acted in many movies and television series since his childhood. Career Selim's first acting role was in ''Empire M'' (1972), in which he acted as the son of Faten Hamama. However, he took his schooling seriously and did not act again until he graduated, in which he studied Tourism in Helwan University. Beside his acting career, he hosted the TV show "Hiwar Al Qahira" on Sky News Arabia. Personal life Selim was married twice. Mervat El Nahas was his first wife who was the mother of his three children. He then married Nadia Al Ghaleb in 2004. On 5 May 2020, he spoke on television about having a 26-year-old transgender son, in a rare public show of support for LGBT+ rights in the conservative Muslim majority country. Mahmoud el-Meliguy ( arz, محمود المليجي, ; 22 December 1910 – 6 June 1983) was an Egyptian screenwriter and an actor of film, theater, and television. He started his career playing minor roles, but achieved stardom in the late 1930s. A popular and award-winning actor, he has acted in hundreds of films and was famous for his evil, villain roles. Career El-Meliguy is the descendant of an Egyptian family that took its name from the Egyptian city of Melieg in Monufia Governorate. He breakthrough role came when Mohamed Abdel Wahab chose him to star in the film ''Lastu Mallak'' (''I'm Not an Angel''). He was paid 900 Egyptian pounds and quickly achieved stardom. People praised him for the villain role he played in that film, and film critics described him as “the wickedness of cinema”.
