''The Return'' ( es, El regreso, links=no) is a 2013 Venezuelan film directed by Patricia Ortega. The first Zulian film of this millennium, it premiered on 30 August 2013 in commercial cinemas in Venezuela. Plot An armed group breaks the tranquility of the inhabitants of Bahía Portete in the Colombian Alta Guajira. In the midst of the horror and blood, women risk their lives to help their children escape. Shüliwala, a girl of only 10, manages to flee to a border city. But once she is in this strange territory, she must manage to survive and not lose hope of returning home. Cast Filming Filming took place between the community of , , and Maracaibo, Zulia. Patricia Ortega
Patricia Ortega (Venezuelan , born 1977) is a Venezuelan film director. She has won multiple accolades, particularly for her 2018 film '' Being Impossible''. Early life Ortega says that she has been a movie lover since she was young, and so the decision to become a filmmaker was natural. She has studied journalism at university. Career Ortega studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in Cuba, specialising in Film Direction. After creating some short films, Ortega became president of the independent Venezuelan production company Mandrágora Films in 2009. In the next ten years, she made ten short fiction and documentary films with the company; in 2013 she directed her first feature film, ''El regreso'' (English: ''The Return''), which saw a wide commercial release in cinemas across Venezuela. Wayuu Language
Wayuu ( guc, Wayuunaiki ), or Guajiro, is a major Arawakan language spoken by 305,000 indigenous Wayuu people in northwestern Venezuela and northeastern Colombia on the Guajira Peninsula. There are 200,000 speakers of Wayuu in Venezuela and 120,000 in Colombia. Smith (1995) reports that a mixed Guajiro–Spanish language is replacing Wayuu in both countries. The Wayuu (also Wayu, Wayúu, Guajiro, Wahiro) are an Amerindian ethnic group of the Guajira Peninsula in northernmost part of Colombia and northwest Venezuela.
