The Rejected Woman
''The Rejected Woman'' is a 1924 American silent drama film directed by Albert Parker (in New York) and written by John Lynch. The film stars Alma Rubens, Conrad Nagel, and Béla Lugosi in a supporting role as Jean Gagnon. Plot John Leslie (Nagel) is a rich, New York City man who leads a brilliant life. While piloting his plane in Canada, he meets Diane Du Prez (Rubens) while seeking refuge from a storm. Shortly after John returns to New York City, Diane moves to town and the two began dating. Leslie's friends are scandalized by the relationship as Diane is poor, shabbily dressed and unsophisticated. Albert Parker (director)
Albert Parker (May 11, 1885 – August 10, 1974) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter and actor. He directed 36 films between 1917 and 1938. In the early 1930s Parker left Hollywood for England where he continued to direct films and also opened an actors' agency office. One of his later clients in the 1960s was actress Helen Mirren. He was born in New York, USA, and died in London, England. Early years Standing was born in London, England and died in Los Angeles, California. He was the son of veteran actor Herbert Standing and the brother of actors Sir Guy Standing, Jack Standing, Herbert Standing Jr. and Percy Standing. He was also the uncle of Joan Standing and Kay Hammond,. and actor Charles Wyndham was his uncle. Career Standing, a popular leading man in the silent film era, appeared in more than 130 films between 1915 and 1948. Frederick Burton (October 20, 1871 – October 23, 1957) was an American actor. He appeared in 122 films between 1914 and 1947. Burton was born in Gosport, Indiana and died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.
