''The Red in the Sky Is Ours'' is the debut album by the Swedish death metal band At the Gates released on 27 July 1992. It was re-released in 1993 along with ''With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness'' and then in 2003 with bonus tracks. Background information When At the Gates began recording ''The Red in the Sky Is Ours'', the group had been together for a mere year. In comparison to 1991 EP ''Gardens of Grief'', guitarist Anders Björler feels that ''The Red in the Sky Is Ours'' is more structured. In certain instances, Björler deems the record "experimental" nonetheless. At this time, the group's members started to learn about one another musically. Björler was at the time very inspired by guitarist Alf Svensson's ideas, and called them "over the top" and "extremely challenging". At The Gates
At the Gates is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1990. The band was a major progenitor of Gothenburg-style melodic death metal alongside In Flames and Dark Tranquillity. Prior to their first disbandment in 1996, At the Gates released four albums, ending with and including ''Slaughter of the Soul'' (1995), which has been seen as a landmark in the mid-1990s Swedish death metal scene. Jonas Fredrik Björler (born 26 February 1973) is a Swedish musician and the bass player of the melodic death metal bands At the Gates and The Haunted. Adrian Erlandsson
Adrian Erlandsson (born 27 October 1970) is a Swedish heavy metal drummer who is a member of At the Gates (1990–1996, 2007–2008, 2010–), the Haunted (1996–1999, 2013–), and Nemhain (2006–). He has also been a member of H.E.A.L. (1994–1996), Hyperhug (1994–1996), Decameron (1997), Cradle of Filth (1999–2006), Needleye (2006–?), Brujeria (2006–2013), Netherbird (2007–2010), and Paradise Lost (2009–2016). Erlandsson currently resides in London where he owns a photo studio. Biography Erlandsson was born in Malmö to a Swedish father with Romanian roots. Tomas Lindberg
Tomas Lindberg (born 16 October 1972), also known as "Tompa" and "Goatspell", is a Swedish vocalist who has fronted many death metal bands, most notably At the Gates. He has been active as a musician and composer since the late 1980s. He also teaches social studies. Lindberg was ranked number 30 out of 50 of The Greatest Metal Frontmen of All Time by Roadrunner Records. Career He started as a vocalist in the band Grotesque under the name Goatspell. Alf Svensson (guitarist)
Alf Svensson is a Swedish heavy metal guitarist. He initially played in Oral from 1984 to 1989. He temporarily entered Grotesque and Liers in Wait before joining At the Gates in 1990. He was their guitarist until 1993, in 1994, he reformed Oral to record an EP. He then formed Oxiplegatz, and went on to release three albums with them. He currently works as art director in First Planet Company (MMO Entropia Universe). At the Gates (1990-1993) Bandmember Anders Björler accredits Svensson as a "major songwriter" for At the Gates' first three albums, saying he believes that "he is a great musician", and expressed admiration for Svensson's music.
