The Real Shlemiel
''The Real Shlemiel''/''Aaron's Magic Village'' (german: Die Schelme von Schelm) is a 1995 European-Israeli adventure-fantasy film. It was released in Germany and in the United States in 1997. The film is based on ''Stories for Children'' by Isaac Bashevis Singer. Plot After creating the world, God has three cherubs spread intelligence, wisdom, and foolishness over the world. The third cherub accidentally drops all the foolishness on the village of Chelm, so that everyone in the village is very dumb. A recently orphaned boy named Aaron moves to Chelm to live with his uncle Shlemiel, while Darko, an evil sorcerer, plans to create a golem to destroy Chelm, but needs the Book of Marvels to bring the golem to life. Shlemiel's family is poor so he asks the mayor, Gronam, for a raise. Gronam instead tells him to marry off his three daughters, which will make him rich, while Shlemiel's wife, Sarah, tells Aaron to sell his goat, Zlateh, who cannot make milk. Buzz Potamkin
Marshall "Buzz" Potamkin (October 22, 1945 – April 22, 2012) was an American television producer and director known for founding his own television advertisement production studio, Perpetual Motion Pictures aka Buzzco Associates, and helping to establish Southern Star Productions. Along with advertisements, Potamkin focused on producing made-for-television animation, beginning with several television films based on the ''Berenstain Bears'' series of children's books. He went on to produce series for Turner Entertainment and, more specifically, Cartoon Network, including every episode of Cartoon Network's animated showcase series, ''What a Cartoon!'', a project developed for aspiring animators to make pilot shorts that the network could choose to develop into full-fledged series.
