''The Proud Family'' is an American animated television series created by Bruce W. Smith that originally ran on Disney Channel from September 15, 2001, to August 19, 2005. A revival, known as '' The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder'', was announced in 2020 and made its premiere on Disney+ on February 23, 2022. Characters Main * Penny Proud (voiced by Kyla Pratt) is the main protagonist of the series, a 14-year-old girl who is usually embarrassed by her father, Oscar. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, even though they have gotten her into trouble, and left her to face danger by herself many times. She always listens to and respects her parents, but often caves in to peer pressure. An adventure is an exciting experience or undertaking that is typically bold, sometimes risky. Ned Arnel "Carlos" Mencía (born October 22, 1967) is a Honduran-American comedian, writer, and actor. His style of comedy is often political and involves issues of race relations, Latin American culture, criminal justice, and social class. ''The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder'' is an American animated television series created by Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar which premiered on Disney+ on February 23, 2022. It is a revival and soft reboot of '' The Proud Family'', which originally aired on Disney Channel from 2001 to 2005. In April 2022, Disney+ confirmed that the show's second season was in production. ''The Proud Family Movie'' is a 2005 American animated comedy television film based on the Disney Channel animated series, ''The Proud Family''. It premiered on August 19, 2005 and serves as the finale to the show’s original run. Plot Penny Proud is about to celebrate her 16th birthday, and she is excited for herself and her friends to be part of a dance group led by 15 Cent since he's Sticky's cousin. However, when 15 Cent drives Penny home, her father Oscar gets angry when he finds them kissing. Overreacting on this, Oscar grounds Penny indefinitely and cancels her birthday, which leaves Penny very furious as she outrageously resents Oscar for being her father. Ralph Farquhar (born September 19, 1951) is an American film and television producer and writer, and playwright. He is the co-creator of three sitcoms set in South Central, Los Angeles, California: the Fox sitcom '' South Central'', and, with Sara Finney-Johnson and Vida Spears, the UPN sitcoms ''Moesha'', starring Brandy, and its spinoff ''The Parkers'', starring Countess Vaughn and Mo'Nique.
