It was the first album by The Prosthetic Cubans and was followed by '' ¡Muy Divertido!'' in 2000. Marc Ribot (; born May 21, 1954) is an American guitarist and composer. His work has touched on many styles, including no wave, free jazz, rock, and Cuban music. Ribot is also known for collaborating with other musicians, most notably Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Vinicio Capossela and John Zorn. Biography Marc Ribot was born in Newark, New Jersey. Anthony John Medeski (born June 28, 1965) is an American jazz keyboard player and composer. Medeski is a veteran of New York's 1990s avant-garde jazz scene and is known popularly as a member of Medeski Martin & Wood. ''Changüí'' is a style of Cuban music which originated in the early 19th century in the eastern region of Guantánamo Province, specifically Baracoa. It arose in the sugar cane refineries and in the rural communities populated by slaves. ''Changüí'' combines the structure and elements of Spain's ''canción'' and the Spanish guitar with African rhythms and percussion instruments of Bantu origin. Changüí is considered a predecessor of ''son montuno'' (the ancestor of modern salsa), which has enjoyed tremendous popularity in Cuba throughout the 20th century. Changüí is related to the other regional genres of ''nengón'' and ''kiribá'' and is descended from ''nengón.'' Luis Martínez Griñán (19 August 1915 – 26 August 1990), better known as Lilí Martínez, was a Cuban pianist, arranger and composer specializing in the son montuno style. He played in the Conjunto de Arsenio Rodríguez and Conjunto Chappottín. Together with Rubén González and Peruchín, he is said to have "forged the style of modem Cuban piano playing in the 1940s". Alfredo Boloña Jiménez (December 24, 1890 – 1964) was a Cuban guitarist who played a role in the early development of the son as director of the Sexteto Boloña. Career Boloña was born in Havana on December 24, 1890. Boloña played the marímbula, the bongó and the tres at different times and, despite his physical limitations (dwarfism), he was a force in Cuban music for half a century.
