The Pressure was an American band formed in September 1996. History The band played their first show in San Diego. During their existence, the trio lived crammed together in a tiny studio apartment in Costa Mesa, California, with their cat. The band played live several times on college radio, as well as television, where they not only hosted the alternative rock program ''Are-Oh-Vee'' twice, but would appear on The Gong Show. The energy of their live shows guaranteed almost continual coverage in the '' Orange County Weekly'', which voted them one of the top unsigned bands in October 1997. In April 1998, a cover story asked, ''"Are The Pressure OC's favorite band?"''. Their single, "I Wanna Call Someone" sold out of Orange County record stores the day it was released, and would wind up selling out completely in October 1998 after a deluge of European orders. Costa Mesa (; Spanish for "Table Coast") is a city in Orange County, California. NOFX () is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Jason Thornberry
Jason Thornberry (born 1971) is an American writer and musician. His tenure with the Southern California alternative-punk group Mulch saw them perform 200 times in two years as an unsigned band. Mulch performed with No Doubt and NOFX in the early 1990s. Thornberry founded The Pressure, who went from complete obscurity to the cover of ''OC Weekly'' less than a year after their first concert. In 1999, The Pressure was readying the release of their debut album ''Things Move Fast'', when Thornberry was discovered in a coma after being beaten nearly to death. Four months later, he was released in a wheelchair. Within a year he was walking again, and Thornberry had begun to document the experience. He continued to see therapists, having also temporarily lost the ability to speak, or to use the left side of his body, as a result of the assault.
