The Polynin Case
''An Incident with Polynin'' (russian: Случай с Полыниным) is a 1970 Soviet drama film directed by Aleksey Sakharov. Plot The film tells about the young Moscow actress Galina, who at the beginning of the war goes to the Karelian Front. The commander of an aviation regiment colonel Polynin watched her performance, and they fell in love with each other. Soon he was transferred to serve near Moscow, and the actress asked him to put her letter in a mailbox there. She explained that the letter was about her work. Actually, it was addressed to her lover, a prominent theater director. Polynin decided not to put the letter to the mailbox, but to bring it to the addressee himself. The film is characterized by the deep psychological insight into the feelings and emotions of the personages, which is typical of Simonov's works. Lev Konstantinovich Durov ( rus, Лев Константинович Дуров, p=ˈlʲef kənstɐnʲˈtʲinəvʲɪdʑ ˈdurəf; 23 December 1931 – 20 August 2015) was a Soviet and Russian theatre and film actor who appeared in more than 200 films and numerous stage productions between 1955 and 2008. He was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1990. Durov came from the illustrious Durov family whose members included memoirist Nadezhda Durova and animal trainer Anatoly Durov. His aunt's husband ran the Maly Theatre in 1944–1947. Lev Durov married actress Irina Kirichenko (1931–2001) in 1954. Their daughter Ekaterina is also an actress. Durov attended the Moscow Art Theatre School, where his teachers included Sergey Gerasimov and . He joined the troupe of Anatoly Efros in 1954 and was a mainstay of Efros's productions until 1984. Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov, born Kirill Mikhailovich Simonov (russian: link= no, Константин Михайлович Симонов, – 28 August 1979), was a Soviet author, war poet, playwright and wartime correspondent, arguably most famous for his 1941 poem "Wait for Me". Early years Simonov was born in Petrograd in 1915. His mother, Princess Aleksandra Leonidovna Obolenskaya, came of the Rurikid Obolensky family. His father, Mikhail Agafangelovich Simonov, an officer in the Tsar's army, left Russia after the Revolution of 1917 and died in Poland sometime after 1921. Konstantin's mother, Alexandra, remained in Russia with Konstantin. In 1919 his mother married Alexander Ivanishev, a Red Army officer and veteran of World War I.
