The Pitch (Seinfeld)
"The Pitch" is the 43rd episode of the sitcom '' Seinfeld''. It is the third episode of the fourth season. It aired on September 16, 1992. Its original airing was as part of a one-hour episode, with " The Ticket" as the second half. In this episode, NBC executives express interest in Jerry doing a TV series, so Jerry and George work on a pitch for the proposed show. At NBC, Jerry inadvertently tips off "Crazy" Joe Davola that Kramer is having a party without having invited him. Plot NBC executives approach Jerry after his comedy act and ask him to come up with an idea for a TV series. George decides he can be a sitcom writer and comes up with the idea of it being "a show about nothing". Kramer trades Newman a radar detector for a helmet. Later Newman receives a speeding ticket due to the detector being defective. ''The Pitch'' is an American podcast hosted by Josh Muccio, produced in partnership with Vox Media. The show features entrepreneurs in need of venture funding as they pitch to a live panel of investors, similar to ABC's hit TV series ''Shark Tank''. Billed as, "A show where real entrepreneurs pitch to real investors—for real money", the podcast aims to capture the essence of what happens when entrepreneurs pitch investors. The first episode of ''The Pitch'' premiered on June 21, 2015 with investor Sheel Mohnot appearing as Muccio's cohost. ''The Pitch'' is a free alternative newspaper distributed in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, including Lawrence and Topeka, Kansas. While known for its investigative stories of the local government, it also covers local sports stories, restaurants, events, visual art, and concerts. It was started in July 1980 as the ''Penny Pitch'', which was a monthly handout at Penny Lane Record Shop in the Westport area of Kansas City. The original editors were Dwight Frizzell and Jay Mandeville. Village Voice Media bought ''The Pitch'' in 1999, and sold the paper in 2011 to SouthComm Communications. In 2017 ''The Pitch'' was sold to Stephanie Carey and Adam Carey. ''Gruen'' (previously known as ''The Gruen Transfer'') is an Australian television program focusing on advertising, which debuted on the ABC on 28 May 2008. The program is hosted by Wil Anderson and produced by Andrew Denton's production company, Zapruder's Other Films, now part of CJZ. Anderson is accompanied by a panel of advertising industry experts including Russel Howcroft (originally of George Patterson Y&R) and Todd Sampson (previously of Leo Burnett). The title refers to the Gruen transfer, the response to designed disorientation cues in retail environments. The show's debut episode drew an audience of nearly 1.3 million, the highest debut for an entertainment program in the ABC's history.
