The Pinball Expo
Pinball Expo is an event that is held annually in the Chicago area, the original home of most pinball manufacturers. The event attracts pinball industry professionals, pinball players, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world. Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel
The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel is a hotel located at I-90 and Meacham Road in Schaumburg, Illinois. The 500-room hotel opened its doors in July 2006 and is run by Marriott under their Renaissance brand. The property features a exhibition hall, of meeting room space, and a ballroom, all of which can be divided to provide many configurations. Construction began on the $156 million facility in July 2004 and took two years to complete. The property is owned by the Village of Schaumburg, who chose John Portman & Associates of Atlanta as the architect and Walsh Construction of Chicago as the general contractor. The original design also called for an $80 million performing arts center but that portion of the design has been tabled for now. Pinball Events
Pinball games are a family of games in which a ball is propelled into a specially designed table where it bounces off various obstacles, scoring points either en route or when it comes to rest. Historically the board was studded with nails called 'pins' and had hollows or pockets which scored points if the ball came to rest in them. Today, pinball is most commonly an arcade game in which the ball is fired into a specially designed cabinet known as a pinball machine, hitting various lights, bumpers, ramps, and other targets depending on its design. The game's object is generally to score as many points as possible by hitting these targets and making various shots with flippers before the ball is lost. Most pinball machines use one ball per turn (except during special multi-ball phases), and the game ends when the ball(s) from the last turn are lost. Steve Ritchie (pinball Designer)
Steven Scott Ritchie (born February 13, 1950) is an American pinball and video game designer. His career began in the 1970s, Ritchie holds the record for best-selling pinball designer in history. He has been called "The Master of Flow" due to the emphasis in his designs on ball speed, loops, and long smooth shots. Ritchie was also the original voice of Shao Kahn in the ''Mortal Kombat'' fighting game series, serving as the announcer of ''Mortal Kombat II'' (1993), ''Mortal Kombat 3'' (1995), and the updates to ''Mortal Kombat 3''. He is the older brother of fellow pinball designer Mark Ritchie. George Gomez
George Gomez is an industrial designer, video game designer, and pinball designer who has worked for Bally, Williams, and Stern Pinball, among other companies. He worked on the team that created the ''Tron'' video game, and headed the team that created ''Spy Hunter''. In 1984 after the 1983 video game crash, he left Midway to invent toys at the consulting firm Marvin Glass & Associates. He is the inventor of numerous toys, including Tonka's "Splash Darts" and Galoob's "Crash-N-Bash". After Glass, he worked on numerous projects through the contract manufacturer Grand products, including the Battletech Centers and several Sega, Jaleco and Taito coin op video games of the late 80's. Python Anghelo
Python Vladimir Anghelo (January 1, 1954 – April 9, 2014) was a graphic artist best known for his work on video games and pinball machines. Anghelo was born in Transylvania, Romania, and moved to the United States when he was 17. Career After studying art and animation in Romania and the US, he worked as an animator for Disney until 1979. He then moved to Williams Electronics to create the artwork for ''Joust'', taking a 50% pay cut in the process because he believed video games had more potential than traditional animation. He continued to work for Williams (and, later, Midway Games after it merged with Williams) for 15 years until 1994, when his most ambitious project, '' The Pinball Circus'', was discontinued. John Popadiuk
John A. Popadiuk Jr. is a Canadian pinball machine designer. He started work in the business at 19 for Bally in 1980, and later at WMS Gaming from 1989 to 2000. He now works for deeproot Tech as Exclusive Game Designer. He is credited as principal designer for many popular pinball machines in the 1990s including ''Theatre of Magic'', '' Tales of the Arabian Nights'', ''World Cup Soccer'', '' Star Wars Episode I'', and ''Cirqus Voltaire''. Background Early on, Popadiuk read Roger Sharpe's pinball book, and saw the name Norm Clarke, who was currently working at Bally at the time. Popadiuk wrote Clarke a letter, to which Clarke responded, "If you're ever in Chicago, drop me a line and we'll give you a tour." Suzanne Ciani (; born June 4, 1946) is an American musician, sound designer, composer, and record label executive who found early success in the 1970s with her electronic music and sound effects for films and television commercials. Her career has included works with quadraphonic sound. She has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Grammy Award for Best New Age Album, Best New Age Album five times. Cassandra Peterson (born September 17, 1951) is an American actress. She is best known for her portrayal of the horror hostess character Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
