''The Partners'' is an American sitcom that aired on September 18, 1971, through September 8, 1972, on NBC. Synopsis The program featured Don Adams and Rupert Crosse as bumbling detectives, John Doucette their exasperated commanding officer. Dick Van Patten played the sycophantic desk sergeant. Robert Karvelas had a recurring role as Freddie, who compulsively confessed to crimes he did not commit. The pilot featured guest appearances by Joey Forman, Art Metrano, and Yvonne Craig. Production notes Unlike many television programs of its day, ''The Partners'' eschewed a traditional opening title sequence. The opening credits were merely interspersed during the first few minutes, akin to the technique that has become quite commonplace today. Don Adams
Donald James Yarmy (April 13, 1923 – September 25, 2005), known professionally as Don Adams, was an American actor. In his five decades on television, he was best known as Maxwell Smart (Agent 86) in the television situation comedy ''Get Smart'' (1965–1970, 1995), which he also sometimes directed and wrote. Adams won three consecutive Emmy Awards for his performance in the series (1967–1969). Adams also provided the voices for the animated series ''Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales'' (1963–1966) and ''Inspector Gadget'' (1983–1986) as well as several revivals and spinoffs of the latter in the 1990s. Joey Forman
Joseph Forman (November 18, 1929 – December 9, 1982) was an American comedian and comic actor. Biography Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Forman appeared on the late 1940s local radio show the Magic Lady Supper Club along with his school friend, singer Eddie Fisher. The pair travelled to upstate New York to the Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel in the Catskill Mountains. Forman was originally an athletic director, but his funny remarks led the management to place him on the stage as a comedian, though Forman wished to become a serious actor. Ferdinand Leon
Ferdinand Leon Jr. (January 29, 1922 – September 7, 1988) was an African-American writer who wrote for television shows. Life and career Leon was born in January 1922 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Ferdinand Leon Sr. and Ida Leon. He attended school in Louisiana with his four sisters. During his youth, Ferdinand lived in New Orleans and Los Angeles, California. Upon attending African-American writing classes conducted by Earl Barret and Bob Goodwin, Leon was recognized as a "promising student" and gained enough recognition to be hired as a freelance writer.
