''The Palm Wine Drinkard'' is the first solo mixtape by rapper Kool A.D., of the rap group Das Racist. Released in January 2012, it is the first of two mixtapes released by Kool A.D. that year, with '' 51'' following in April. The mixtape takes its name from Amos Tutuola's novel ''The Palm-Wine Drinkard''. The Palm-Wine Drinkard
''The Palm-Wine Drinkard'' (subtitled "and His Dead Palm-Wine Tapster in the Dead's Town") is a novel published in 1952 by the Nigerian author Amos Tutuola. The first African novel published in English outside of Africa, this quest tale based on Yoruba folktales is written in a modified English or Pidgin English. In it, a man follows his brewer into the land of the dead, encountering many spirits and adventures. The novel has always been controversial, inspiring both admiration and contempt among Western and Nigerian critics, but has emerged as one of the most important texts in the African literary canon, translated into more than a dozen languages. Boy Crisis
Boy Crisis was an American band that was influenced by the post-disco–post-punk sound of the early 1980s. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Boy Crisis consisted of members Tal Rozen, Alex Kestner, Victor Vazquez, Lee Pender, and Owen Roberts. Victor Vazquez is now an MC and was formerly part of the rap group Das Racist. History Boy Crisis formed initially as a project between Victor Vazquez, Tal Rozen and Alex Kestner at Wesleyan University in 2005, but they did not start playing shows until Lee Pender joined in 2007. Owen Roberts joined later that year. At Wesleyan, they met MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden, and they later played shows supporting MGMT live and remixed one of their singles. ''Relax'' is the only studio album by American hip hop trio Das Racist. It was released by Greedhead Music on September 13, 2011. It peaked at number 111 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. Production The album is produced by Diplo, El-P, Rostam Batmanglij, and Anand Wilder, among others. It includes guest appearances from El-P, Danny Brown, and Despot. Release On August 2, 2011, Das Racist released "Michael Jackson", the lead single from the album. The music video for the song was premiered on September 9, 2011. ''Aquemini'' is the third studio album by American hip hop duo Outkast. It was released on September 29, 1998, by LaFace Records. Das Racist was an American alternative hip hop group based in Brooklyn, composed of MCs Heems and Kool A.D. and hype man Ashok Kondabolu (a.k.a. Dapwell or Dap). Known for their use of humor, academic references, foreign allusions, and unconventional style, Das Racist has occasionally been hailed as an urgent new voice in rap but often dismissed as joke rap. Rapping
Rapping (also rhyming, spitting, emceeing or MCing) is a musical form of vocal delivery that incorporates "rhyme, rhythmic speech, and street vernacular".
