"The Outside-In Man" is the twenty-second episode of the third series of the 1960s cult British spy-fi television series ''The Avengers'', starring Patrick Macnee and Honor Blackman. It was first broadcast by ABC on 22 February 1964. The episode was directed by Jonathan Alwyn and written by Philip Chambers. Plot Steed finds himself protecting a British defector, formerly Steed's target and now an enemy diplomat, from an assassin. Selling a used car is part of the scheme. The Avengers (TV Series)
''The Avengers'' is a British Spy fiction, espionage television series, created in 1961, that ran for 161 episodes until 1969. It initially focused on David Keel (Ian Hendry), aided by John Steed (Patrick Macnee). Hendry left after the first series; Steed then became the main character, partnered with a succession of assistants. His most famous assistants were intelligent, stylish and assertive women: Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman), Emma Peel (Diana Rigg), and Tara King (Linda Thorson). Dresses and suits for the series were made by Pierre Cardin. The series ran from 1961 until 1969, screening as one-hour episodes for its entire run. Spy-fi (neologism)
Spy-fi is a subgenre of spy fiction that includes elements of science fiction, and is often associated with the Cold War. Features of spy-fi include the effects of technology on the espionage trade and the technological gadgets used by the characters, even though the technologies and gadgets portrayed are well beyond current scientific reality. Definition and characteristics Spy-fi can be defined as media that centers around the adventures of a protagonist (or protagonists) working as a secret agent or a spy. Usually, these adventures will revolve around defeating a rival superpower or singular enemy from achieving a nefarious aim. Eddie Powell (9 March 1927 - 11 August 2000) was a British stuntman and actor. Powell performed stuntwork in several films for Hammer Studios, serving as a regular stunt double for Christopher Lee. His credits during this time included portraying Thompson in ''Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.'' (1966) and the Mummy in ''The Mummy's Shroud'' (1967). Valentino Musetti (born 7 January 1943 in Pontremoli, Tuscany, Italy), often known as just Val Musetti, is an Italian-born English film and TV stuntman and retired motor racing driver. Highlights of his career include finishing third in the Shellsport International Series in 1977. In 1978 he finished fifth in the Aurora F1 Championship. Anthony Cecil John Dawes (10 February 1928 – 21 January 2021) was an English character actor, who appeared in a number of roles in film, television and on stage during a career which spanned from 1951 to 2006. Life and career Dawes was born in Felixstowe, Suffolk in February 1928. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 1951.
