The Outhouse (comedy Group)
The Outhouse is a comedy group from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador that became popular for their short skits that were originally posted on YouTube. ''The Outhouse'' is run by founder Justin Hawco. Their YouTube channel has over 37,400 subscribers, while their Facebook page has over 110,000 followers and 79,400 likes, as of January 2024. The group has touched on many Newfoundland topics using satire, including poverty, tradition, alcoholism, news, politics, and pop culture. History Early years In 2007, Justin Hawco created his YouTube channel ''JHawk23'', however it was not yet known as ''The Outhouse''. That same year, Hawco, along with friend Justin Murphy appeared in their first video titled ''Two guys take three roman candles''. The video featured Hawco and Murphy performing a stunt where the pair were shot with Roman Candle fireworks. Andrew Furey
Andrew John Furey (born July 1975) is a Canadian politician and surgeon who has served as the 14th premier of Newfoundland and Labrador since August 19, 2020. A member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Liberal Party, Furey represents Humber-Gros Morne in the House of Assembly. As of 2022, he is the only premier of a province whose government is controlled by the Liberal Party. Early life and career Andrew John Furey was born and raised in St. John's in July 1975. Donnie Dumphy
Donnie Dumphy is a fictional character portrayed by Leon Parsons and created by Leon Parsons and Nik Sexton. Sexton produced skateboard videos in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador and interspersed humorous skits of Donnie, in the role of a "skeet" (Newfoundland stereotype of a lower-class man) into the footage. After a positive reaction from friends and coworkers, he developed the Dumphy character with Parsons and began posting videos on YouTube, calling the music "gib rap". Despite being an admitted "running joke", Sexton and Parson have produced a hip hop CD with the Donnie Dumphy persona and are actively working on a Dumphy film together. Rum Ragged are a Canadian folk music group from Newfoundland and Labrador. They are most noted for their 2020 album ''The Thing About Fish'', which was a shortlisted Juno Award nominee for Traditional Roots Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2021. Originally consisting of accordionist Aaron Collis and singer/guitarist Mark Manning, the band released its self-titled debut album in 2016.
